Bell-----Clingan---Bigi------Baker
-----Juke-----------Sheff---------

Todays possible team

---------------Murphy----------------

I quite like todays team to be honest. Especially given the weaker opposition.

I think there's more options in today's team. And its mostly because of kilbane. He could allow you to bring sheff into the middle or if you want more experience in the middle he can play there. See how it is when the season starts though!

If all these league 1 teams are so rubbish why are we not favorites to win the league?

Its so important we hold onto Keogh

A pairing of Keogh and Wood will be the best in the league....

IF we can keep hold of Keogh I honestly believe we are only a striker and CM off a top half side

Cranie is better than wood, juke is better than our strikers, fleck is a completely unknown quantity so you'd have to say bell is better on paper, and clingan is better than Deegan.

Oh hang on I forgot that as soon as someone leaves they are crap.

Nobody's saying they're all rubbish, but there's a lot of dross in this league. We're not exactly right down there in the betting stakes either.

I'd take an "unknown" over David Bell any day of the week

We can only hope.....but the Blackpool fans weren't exactly complementary...and compare that with the positive things we said about Norwood.

We are 4th favourites. They will be expecting us to sell all our best players again. Our odds will drop if we make any more decent signings

yes, bug they are challangig at the top of the championship, we are league one.

Its like some of our fans not being overly excited about Nimely, but if he signed for Notts County, they would have a player on their hands that could do some damage in THIS division

Argh I just wrote out a long message and the forum went tits up. Rewriting it:

When you write the 2 teams out like that we actually look pretty impressive. I think our back four are pretty solid, Almost as good as last seasons (fingers crossed we keep Keogh). The midfield is a bit weak (baring in mind squad rotation), we do have Bell and Baker who can make a difference when they are having a rare good game. I think Kilbane can play a defensive role also so that would help a bit at the back. If we had another midfielder, another attacker and another defender we would have plenty of choice to switch things around.

If we could have 1 more signing where would you choose it to be? I'm swayed towards another strong midfielder.

Personally i'm not setting my standards too high 10th to 6th is what i'm thinking with that team... Prove me wrong though lads! I'd fucking love to see us win something!

But the fact remains he is an unknown quantity, nothing to get too excited about or get too down about. We don't know if he can take the league by storm. I'm reserving judgement until I see him play 10+ games. He has done nothing in the game yet to suggest his better than Bell.

He was highly rate when he was 16-17 but has lost his way. I'm really hoping he's gonna be a star in this league.

I might be being too conservative in my expectations but above all i want to see the team winning 40%+ of the games we play home and away plus a good proportion of draws first off. Get a bit of momentum and see where that takes us..... and given all concerned know we need some depth there will be more signings..... the squad will be good enough to be competitive in League 1, with a little luck, momentum and clever signings you never know what might happen

As for the two teams put up on the thread then I do not see a lot between them ...... lets face it from the off last season there were passengers

Unfortunately most of last seasons passengers are still here. They should have been the first ones out the door.

disagree.. the biggest passengers last year were eastwood and clingan and they have both left (thankfully )

yes they are still here, which leaves a few possibilities

- we ship them out
- or find a way to get them to play...... I think Bell Baker and Sheffers will have a better season this year .... they know they often let us down last year

Murphy
Clarke - technically better than Christie
Wood - stronger more powerful than Cranie in a physical league.
Cameron - similar to wood far more powerful than Keogh/cranie
Hussey will be good in league 1

Sheff - struggled in league1 before but he was poorly treated by Leeds.
Killer - Could be a gem in league 1
Thomas - We know he has class, could have a big season.
Fleck - Get the ball down and he will play

THEN we are missing a vital proven player!!!
Baker! Scored so many for Stockport
He could be vital and now has to fight for a place ahead of fleck

Up top
Cody - Big season for him
Elliott - not expecting too much but has scored 15 in a season and has a promotion for Norwich
