They would actively pursue a manager employed at another club.
Someone who wants to progress as a manager and to whom the salary is secondary.

Someone who really is hungry to succeed.

I suggest Waggot goes to Burton now and for once take decisive action.

I'm guessing your comment about Burton your talking Jimmy Floyd?

He's had a terrific start but its only 16 games, how much of what he's achieving is down to the work of Gary Rowett? I'd prefer we went for someone who either has been shown to bring stability to a club and build over 2/3 years or either someone who has went into a declining club and turned them around.

A worry I have with the possible appointment of Dave Hockaday is his potential lack of contacts at this level (if we do appoint him, I hope he has plenty). If he knows loads of quality lower league players who can step up and improve us - fair enough. Whoever we get - good luck to them, they/we need it!

He's done a better job than Rowett with the same team in that case.

His Falkirk contract was due to expire summer 2015 from what I can find, so had over 2 years left when we got him. Not sure how much compo was paid.

The club have had over 60 applicants today apparently, we might not need to find one, they're coming to find us.

It's irrelevant what contacts people have right now. We need someone who can get the most out of a bunch of players, not stand for any crap and be honest.

True but Rowett left them in third so hardly poor, Jimmy Floyd inherited a good team, high on confidence. Totally different kettle of fish to come in here and turn around us around and he still has a lot to prove as a manager.

With respect, how do we know what contacts he does or doesn't have?

He has spent time in the game before he took over at Forest Green I'm told (don't know much personally about him so won't claim otherwise) so doubt he'd be too short of help if he had to call on it

I was just asking a question. I don't have a photographic memory of what happened 2 years ago on this particular topic.

If I said something humorous in my question I trust you will share the joke with all of us?

If they show their intent then the smart money should be on L D at Nuneaton, already got experiance of where these clowns are taking us, and a former player

Mark Robins would show limited loyalty to his current employers

I like him hes a winner
Not sure we would see particularly free flowing football from him though
Ultimately why would he come?
Yes we're his hometown Club and he should have played for us at some point during that great career of his
Finally backing up that point he's working for an Owner with ambition to be bigger than the small-town they originate from,
whereas we under SISU aspire to be smaller than the sum of parts
If we can get past all of that, Yes I'd like him to progress his career with us

It's inevitably going to be Hockaday.

Going back never works.

Ultimately the club tries to get someone fresh like Haselbank or a campaigner like Dean Smith.

Oh, and John Still would be my dream choice. He'd sort us out and find us a couple of Premier League players playing parks football.

Ta.

Nah, not for me, he's been patchy throughout his career in non-league. There are better candidates not beyond our reach-although Still sadly probably is, with Luton on the rise again.
