see Steve McLaren is about to walk out on Forest because he has only had the backing for the following signings

Andy Reid
George Boateng
Jonathan Greening
Matt Derbyshire
Ishmal Miller

imagine what Thorn could do with them !!

To be fair, they bagged most of those on free transfers and of them:

Andy Reid is injury-prone and his best form comes in patches. Boateng is 35 years old. Derbyshire's only just returned to English football and needs time to settle in...

I think his point is is that after a.) the spending that Leicester, West Ham and other teams in this league have carried out, Forest's squad is relevantly stagnant from their last failed playoff campaign, and they're gonna get left behind. b.) They lost 4-1 to the Hammers last Sunday, and obviously it's got to have shaken McLaren's confidence in his side- like Wenger, he needed to get reinforcements, which he didn't.

Then again, a lot of managers would struggle in this environment, because it's such an unpredictable league in many respects. Maybe a few wins would put him and Forest back on the right track...

is it really all about spending big money on players? or creating a good close-knit TEAM that compliment each other and are very difficult to beat, think many managers miss that trick these days.

He obviously came in thinking he was going to get a lot more financial support from his director. At least AT knew he would have to sell to buy someone in.

Well, West Ham have gone down the spending route !.

A weeks wages for that lot must dwarf our totalmonthly wage bill !

Big parachute payments though for those coming down.
Think that is where we lost our best chance of getting out of this league when we came down upto now.
As for mclaren hes one of those managers who has no bottle and wants to get out as quick as he can if it's not going his way at the first opportunity and never really succeded anywhere hes been, Think his excuse is just that an excuse to get out before he gets any flack that may tarnish his credability status that he seems to have with the media.

The way Forest run the club is stupid though, they claim McLaren is in charge but they have some weird transfer oversight group that David Pleat heads up and they have final say on signings. You can't run a club like that..

If you stand outside one of their houses at 4am, beeping your horn, holding the heart of a sheep, that last thing that crosses their mind is "danicng"..

Erm..really? What about Middlesbrough? Was there for years building a team mostly from kids and they dropped like a stone when he left. Did well at Derby and great for Man U as A.M. Won the Dutch Eredivisie with FC Twente-the only time in the clubs history that they have won the Dutch top flight!

Yeah, he's terrible..tsk, the number of people who believe the national media hype, just because he wasn't a success as England manager. Whenever I've heard him co-commentate he speaks perfect sense (although with a Dutch twang..) and clearly understands the game much better than most English managers. The bloke is more Bobby Robson than Graham Taylor, and he'll prove a lot of people wrong. Well, he already has if you look at his CV, rather than spouting cliches!

Being a club manager is very different from being an International manager ~ McLaren is more of a coaching and developing type manager - he could never cope with the egos of the England team ~ who do believe what they read in the media and think they're heros and genii.
