It was Shaw's disastrous stint in charge that set us back a long way. Whatever people say about Thorn at least he got us a few points!
can't disagree with that. It must be said also that we have also thrown away some 23 points from winning positions? Imagine if we had converted a few of those under our current form? We would be walking this league!!
To be honest DH nothing he said there is inaccurate. It ignores Bouzanis decking McSheff in the first half and Baker getting wrestled in the 2nd, mind.
his post match comments are always spot on too. Alternatively this was rambled by dickov:
Manager paul dickov, while disappointed, was able to take positives from the defeat on their first-ever visit to the ricoh arena.
He said: "it was sickening and a tough one to take as i thought we definitely deserved at least one point. After we equalised, there was only one team wanting to win it.
"in the match we had three one on ones with their goalkeeper and, after we scored, chris sutherland had a great chance six yards out. We have to start taking them.
"coventry broke and scored in the 95th minute which is the way things are going for us at the moment.
"what we have to do is roll up our sleeves, get stuck in and get on with it. There is nothing wrong with the character in the side - it’s just little things which are not going our way at the moment like matt smith being rugby tackled when we ought to have been awarded a penalty.
"i told to the players i feel for them, but don’t feel sorry for them as we cannot afford to feel sorry for ourselves. Life is all about challenges and so is football.
"and if the players show me the effort, character and commitment they did today, we will be fine."
To be fair to Thorny, he probs would have done a lot better if his best players hadnt left. Lets look at the players that left while he was in charge. Lee Carsley, Marlon King, Keiron Westwood, Richard Keogh, Lukas Jutkiewz (dunno how to spell it), Aron Gunnarson, Ben Turner and Gael Bigirimana. He did well keeping us up as caretaker and he was a damn-sight better than Shaw with the same squad. Robins has brought in Goldie, Moussa, Bailey, Adams and L. Clarke all for free or on loan and look at the differance. I do think Thorny has had a lot of critisism that he shouldnt have had. He tried his best but just couldnt keep us up. And at the end of the day, he's a scout, not a real manager. He brought in Norwood and Nimely on loan which were great signings. I'm glad Robins is here now as we have someone with the eye of Andy Thorn and the skill of a real manager. Play Up Sky Blues!

This season AT signed players he wanted in the summer, he done shit, 3 disappointing draws, ok, we didn't lose, BUT, it was clear that things weren't going to change. His assistant then went on a crazy, freak run that could potentially ruin our season, it was the right decision to sack Thorn when he did, whatever way you look at it...
It was the right decision but 3 draws isnt bad and i tink is sacking was premature. He was told he would be given a chance and they sacked after 3 draws. If they had sacked him int he summer we would have udnerstood but i think it was stupid to sack him at that point. If Robins had have been manager from the start we could be near the top now, but we probs would have got Paul Ince if we asked at the start of the season as he was afraid of a little work in september. I do think sacking Thorn was inevitable but he did some good things too
I made a post on this forum around November 2011ish saying we should get rid of thorn and hire Mark Robins.
If only eh.
I don't think they did deserve a point and I failed to see his 'rugby tackle' claim. Also saying we didn't want to win it. Had we gone on to lose i think MR would have stated areas we weren't at our best in, instead of picking up on little decisions and complaining.
If you think Thorn's sacking was "inevitable", why do you also think his sacking was premature? Quite contradictory. On that logic, why wait if he was going to get sacked anyway, all it would've done was cost us more points, so I ask, how long do you give him?
You're right in saying 3 draws isn't bad, BUT, the manner of the draws were disappointing, we took the lead 3 times, lost the lead, 3 times! 6 points dropped, just like that. We were also making the same mistakes as last year so it was very much, 'same old, same old', therefore, he deserved the sack, most proactive thing the club has done in a long time.
We have MR now, and put bluntly, he's made Thorn and Shaw look ridiculously bad.
