in fairness most fair minded people think the statement is divisive. While other elements think it is ok

No, it isn't "elements" at all. What "elements" are blaming whistles do you think? What is an "element" of fans?

You were clearly being snide and it's backfired.

Not at all. It didn't mean to come across that way. You should know Nick that sometimes people write or say something, it may read differently to some and they could get offended by it?

The line is clearly supposed to patronising and condescending to those who have correctly identified a rouge whistle as causing confusion in our players.

It means you have a different opinion to others. Like I have with others. Nothing more than that. As I said above that doesn't mean you're not fair minded. It just means that various fair minded indiduals can have differing views and opinions just like me and you both do.

We were asked by fans on here and other platforms to request for whistles to stop. We didn't ask people to start using them in the first place but we made the request anyway. Is that the wrong thing to do?

The trust doesn't have anything to do with transfer policy either but felt it could issue a statement regarding the Vincelot sale, its a club matter, a fan matter and it doesn't matter who started it. What is annoying is that it appears if you don't agree with you lot on the whistle not affecting play yesterday that you are branded prejudiced on the subject.

Not really, because only you seemed to be offended by something that wasn't offensive at all.

However multiple people across different "elements" have found issue with the statement.

Still, if you want to bring that "card" up again then crack on.

Then we would have endless "SISU Puppet Nicked My Whistle" posts, along with rehashed jokes about fire certificates for banners.

But banners are allowed in some grounds. Whistles blown during matches are clearly not allowed.

I was wondering that. Someone came round block 16 in the last few mins announcing there'd be a sit-in, but there must have been some who had to get away and would have taken part with a bit of notice. If it's announced a few hours or days before there's still not much can be done to stop it other than not letting people in to the match in the first place.
Exactly. And that'd be the bigger story, fans not allowed in on the offchance they might not leave!

Also I think its pretty out of order of CJ to use his disability to try and force a guilt trip on Nick when he he had no idea about it.

Whilst to most fair minded observers at the match the cause of the Bolton equalising goal was simple defender error, some elements are blaming a whistle for causing momentary confusion in City’s ranks.

Does nobody at the trust engage their brain before they put this kind of thing out? Just needed to say stop using the whistles.

Why put that bit in? What need at all was there?

Does that people people who don't agree aren't fair minded and are an "element"?

Do you really not see how you touched on division then did exactly that below?

Anyone who can't see an issue with the wording of that statement shouldn't be trusted with putting out statements.

It is a common expression meaning some portion, part or segment of the fanbase but not all of it, it has no negative connotations to my mind, where have you seen it used to imply criticism before?

I have seen it used to "group" fans, you know after you have said some are fair minded? Just after saying something is divisive.

So you feel it's a perfectly appropriate non-divisive statement?

We're a very not picky, tetchy bunch on here aren't we!!

I don't think it should have been in the statement either, but do we always have to pick over everything with a high powered microscope?

Yet again, the trust show themselves up. Surprise surprise! The irony of calling SCG a closed group and not fit for purpose. Well, that's exactly what the trust is. SISU don't listen to fans, nor do the trust unless you agree with them.

I expect the usual retort of what do you do, at least there doing something, do it yourself then. Well, the trust are doing nothing of benefit, like most they throw that at.

Normally, I would agree, but I don't think you need a microscope to see how divisive it is. Just my opinion, of course.

Yes I think that its separated into fair minded people and other elements (i.e everyone else) is what rubbed people up the wrong way. Elements itself doesn't have any negative connotations itself but in the context of the line it does.

Its the same as writing most fair minded fans.....whilst others.......

it implies that these other 'elements' are not part of the group which are fair minded.

Well yes, I agree, but it's the continuing over examination that I am talking about.

It shouldn't have been in the statement.

Are we going to have another 45 pages on it though I wonder.

Not at all. We agree that whistles should not have been used during the game and for it to stop. I believe the goal wasn't because of one being blown. If you have a different opinion to me, like the wife and some of my family do, you and they are perfectly entitled to that opinion as I am to mine. Please can you respect that? Not everyone is going to see everything the same way. Even if they live in the same house or work in the same building. That's how this argument started in the first place! To make things easier I now won't comment on if the goal was or wasn't caused by a whistle. Up to you and everyone else to decide if it's worth still talking about, whether they share my opinion or your opinion. We're never going to agree so let's stop going over the same argument. I am guilty as much as anyone of that.

Please understand that like I said in a previous post the fact that someone/several individuals blew a whistle has distracted from what is important and I am as pissed off as anyone. The important parts being that we saw 3 good goals, a good City performance, a good game and took part in a good peaceful protest afterwards.

If I see anyone blowing one in the future I will ask them to stop or speak to a steward. Whichever I feel comfortable with at the time. Can only suggest you do the same.

You are really missing the point aren't you?

It isn't about whether you personally thought it was or not. It was about the snidey line in the statement.

Why not listen to what people say rather than just making out every other "element" is wrong and the "fair minded" ones aren't?

When the position is that your opinion is the one shared by 'fair minded observers' whereas the other is shared by 'some elements' you're not really respecting it yourself. It's the wording of the statement that can only detract from the point, in much the same way that some guy with a whistle has detracted somewhat from a sit-in protest.

In fairness to the Trust; apart from the unnecessary line about the fairness of observers, the actual aim and message in the statement should be applauded.
