Still not conclusive either way in my view but I think we need to drop the whistle idea. It was great and actually quite innovative for the Sheff Utd game but it isn't getting us anywhere or doing favours with the opposition.

As for protests against Wasps, I find myself wondering why we would do this?

Would be a good move ( The whistles) given the discussion

If they were used like the Sheffield utd game I wouldn't be as arsed about it but about 20 people doing it just to distract the players pisses me off.

Because they're the latest pantomime villain and accepting you can't actually affect any change as a fan is hard.

After the Bolton player miscues his shot a sharp whistle is blown. You can hear it on the video so not sure how some didn't hear it at the time.

Our player stops and let's the ball run past him. He only slips when he realises it wasn't the refs whistle and tries to recover.

Will watch it again.

As I said previously, I had just left the ground, so missed it and could make no judgement on it at the time.

The whistle was clear enough to hear - in fact a couple of hundred people cheered before realising it was some dickhead fan.

exactly it was trying to disrupt the field of play rather than the attention that it had in the united game (and the headaches that followed)

Yes, whistle before Reilly slips.

Unfortunately though, I am still not so sure. You can't tell (well I can't anyway) whether Reilly stops for the whistle or because he thinks someone else is going to go for the ball.

Wish it was 100%, but for me it is still grassy knoll sort of territory.

Maybe we'd have gone on to concede anyway, no one knows. Reilly or Reuben could still have messed up and the goal could have been scored without the whistle.

But I think it's pretty conclusive in the video that it affected the players for a second in a crucial moment.

Wasn't he the one who did a protest inside Sixfields?

For the record I never set inside SF when Coventry City played their home homes at the place.

I stood on the hill, twice.

Any insult I can take apart from
1: being called a brummie
2: insinuating I stepped foot in Sixfields.

I'll put my hands up and say that it casts my original thoughts in some doubt. I had thought that Riley was caught out by the miscue ball - and to some extent probably was; but at the same time, the whistle could had added to the confusion. Whether he would have got to the ball is questionable, however. All in all, in was a bit of a team f**k up.

Tbf I'm pretty sure here the city fans are ironic cheering because the Bolton player fucked up his shot, that's what I thought at the time anyway.

Maybe a bit of both.

To all the people on here who have argued the fact that there was no whistle, the whistle hearing people are all crazy sisu lovers, I get that you've argued for 24 hours we were wrong and can't go back on that now (even if you have just seen the evidence) but I think that just concluded any arguments! Close thread Nick. Our work here is done

Politely, you've either misunderstood what people were saying, or you are choosing to misrepresent. This was not about whether there was a whistle: it was about whether a whistle was contributory towards the goal. The extended highlights suggest it could well have been.

People will argue till they are blue in the face, first it was there was no whistle and people telling us we are hearing magic whistles that no one else did. Now conclusive proof there was a sharp whistle right when people said it was.

Next they will just argue it had no effect and Reilly just made no attempt for the ball for a different illogical, poorly thought out reason

There's hardly anyone who said there was NO whistle. Quite a few people saying they didn't hear it though.

Be nice if Reilly came out and actually said it did affect him. If he did that it might actually get through to the numbskulls not to do it again.

Yeah and all you are talking about are whistles. I for one am over the moon we just got a point of one of the best teams in the league! I'm not looking for excuses as to why we didn't get 3 because the reason for that is we are at the bottom of the league and we are not very good!

I just watched the extended highlights on Sky Blues Player. I don't think it could be any clearer that they stopped because of the whistle - half the fucking crowd gave a cheer too because they also thought it was the ref.

Never gonna happen though is it?! A player who's played one game for the City having a pop at the fans for losing us points etc.
Besides even if he does, he'll only be dubbed a sisu lover for turning on the fans for protesting!

Think we need to add it to the 911/Kennedy/Bob Marley/Princess Diana/Marilyn Monroe file.

These numbskulls would probably just do it more and make himself a target of abuse for fans.

Don't get that. how is it turning on fans? this was just a handful of idiots wasn't it? Wasn't a great big group of fans.

If everyone had whistles then I think you would have a point, but having a go at a few mindless idiots I don't think would have any repercussions at all, especially as the protest group said the whistles were nothing to do with any protest yesterday.

It was just a handful of idiots.

As I said, the club need to issue a warning that anyone blows a whistle will be barred and get the stewards to watch out for it.

Then we would have endless "SISU Puppet Nicked My Whistle" posts, along with rehashed jokes about fire certificates for banners.

And you can see Lamieries make a forward run, he would have also beat their player to the ball if not for that.

The cheers were for the poor pass/ shot, probably why I didn't hear the whistle. For me it looks like Ruben thought Reilly was getting the ball but Reilly just slipped, it could've been because of the whistle but I'm not sure anyone could be certain about that. Anyway we had ample opportunity to defend before the goal was scored.

Yes, look how close he is to the ball with no Bolton player anywhere near him. He just needs to whack it upfield.
