Sure everybody has their own favourite. For me, the cavalry charge in the third Lord of the Rings. So powerfully done and stands the test of time.

Others?

My first thought when I opened this thread was actually the ending. Absolutely amazing film, and one of my favourites.

The sequel was clearly never going to match up to it but wasn’t bad either.

I thought it was a good film, if it was on its own that is. Obviously nowhere near as good as the first one, and probably extremely unnecessary as well.

The sharks in the arena seemed a bit ridiculous, but apparently they did flood it in the past to stage battles of the sea.

Apparently there is a third one coming at some stage. Equally as unnecessary, but of course I'll still go and watch it.

2001 : A Space Odyssey

The jump cut
The docking scene
I'm afraid I can't do that Dave
Daisy Daisy
The star child etc.
...and of course Leonard Rossiter

So many iconic scenes in an iconic movie.

Very, very old, but very, very classic.

The reason this scene has always stuck with me is that on 2 different management training courses, they started with this opening of the film.
It's why the Romans were so efficient in battle - the 3 M's. Men, Methods and Machines. At the time was the success factor for industry.

Made even better by the fact that supposedly this was shot in one take and a lot of what Hoffman said was ad-libbed so Walken didn’t know it was coming hence him laughing and his natural reaction to hearing it.

It’s the realisation that he knows he’s going to die so asks for the Chesterfield which just sets it up so beautifully…..

Great film, the guy who plays Hans Landa is just sensational considering he has lines in 4 languages over the movie.

The scene with him speaking Italian to Brad Pitt is also very good.

The restaurant scene where he eats strudel while interrogating the cinema owner is brilliant. Leaving enough in there to plausibly argue either way whether he knows who she really is.
