Wore their shirt with pride and gave their all ! Roberts, Willis, Henderson, Thomas, Brigie, Jeffers, Thomas -they all tried and gave their best. It isn't their fault they are inexperienced and are so young. With kids like this coming through makes me proud to be Sky Blue. Don't knock them, please.

It's very difficult for kids who haven't played in the first team much or at all to expect them to be good from the off,and against a saints team going for promotion,we should give them a bit of credit after all its all we've got for next season

I thought will Roberts looked the best if I'm honest, good first touch and worked hard!

Agree with OP. The kids gave it a real go.
However, this must not distract us from the fact that they can only make up half the team, at most. We need more experienced players; this season too much has been asked of kids. Each of them should be squad players, not first choice. Too few experienced players and they have been unjustly criticised IMO as we are giving the kids a break.

Agree OP. There were far too many people on here slagging the team off, youngsters or not. If we don't BACK our players then what's the point?

You have to give them their due, they did well. Sure thorn picked more than he needed to to highlight his plight. Clever move

Stop attention seeking for starters. If you are not after attention then you are a wum, not a Cov fan or even lacking in the braincell department. How come our team of young players got praised by lots of people in football, including the Southampton manager and even their fans, but you only slag them off and even say it is your right to. Yes, we lack goals and also make mistakes. They are learning their trade. We were against a team that had been in the top two all season. They have won the vast majority of their home games. I was proud of how the lads played. The problem is now even more people will know how good they are. We will lose some of them now for not much reward.

We should have won should we? :thinking about:

No, of course not. There is nio denying we'd had a bad season, but I think you're out of order just slagging the team off constantly. That's all you ever do.

I've never been so proud of my team as yesterday. As Astute so...er...astutely put it, we had a team of kids and the football world was united in their praise of them yesterday. You should be proud, not constantly on the attack.

They're your team. Apparently.

I think we've got to be very careful if we don't strengthen over the summer. Too much expectation could be put on the kids, something they've not really had to deal with this season. As supporters we've got to be realistic, going into next season expecting us to walk over everyone could be dangerous. I don't think the majority of fans see it like this, but some of the people CWR manage to get on makes me think this might be the case.

If we don't strengthen with a few ball winners and at least a goalscorer we could struggle. We are a bit lightweight for Div 3. We will also lose to a team or few over the season that we saw below us until recently.

for one...i am not attention seeking as you put it....nor am i brain dead...and i am a cov fan...now supporting this club since 73...and more or less been goin up since then..and the amount i have spent during this period.....well.....it would add up to a great amount for sure....that im not complaining about....that was my choice....but however it does give me some right to voice my concerns within this forum....forum being the operative word ere....meaning...i have my say. it is after all a football forum..now whether you agree or not...thats what makes it a forum.....oddly enough...now..if we all agreed to what was written on this forum....regarding our club....how boring would that be...

as for the team yesterday...yeah we fielded the kids...was it a masterstroke by thorn...knowing...that all of the country was watching....knowing fielding the kids..would show the country just how shit we was..thus....feeling sorry for us....and may i add thorn himself...well...this is a 46 game season..not just one game...and we won 9...how pathetic...team....was awful all season.....

Well, no club is going to publicly state they want to employ him are they? So, how can anyone answer that? Stupid question - doesn't surprise me though

Sylus: I'm not going to sit here and call you brain dead, but I don't really get your point. Saying fielding kids was a masterstroke - did he have a choice? Ok he could've bought Platt on instead of Jeffers, but it's not like he was blessed with an array of seasoned pros and chose kids over them. The team haven't been great this season, but to be honest I'm surprised we weren't down a month of two ago. Our kids have put up a great fight and I'd certainly rather see kids like Thomas and Jeffers is our team over the lazy and overpaid Clingan and Eastwood.

Astute: I agree mate, we certainly need to strengthen, but if SISU are saying we will then I'm not holding out. If we do start next season with kids, we need to patient. For a lot of them, it will only be their second season and thats still a huge amount of inexperience. My worry is that fans will be thinking we should be challenging and if we start badly, the fans will turn and the negative atmosphere surrounding the club will only get worse. It won't do anything for confidence. It sometimes takes teams a couple of seasons to readjust to a lower league.

Oh I see...Thorn was being clever playing the kids. He decided not to play all the other fantastic experienced pros in our squad? The sneaky bastard. I didn't realise we really do have a massive talented squad.

I have been so stupid. Thorn out! :thinking about:

I've never been so proud of my team as yesterday,

I d have to say I was prouder when we best spurs in the cup final, when we beat Liverpool 4 0. On any number of the great escapes, beating Man u away in 89. Beating villa in the cup along with Liverpool away that year in 98. The comeback from 2-0 down to beat Chelsea 3-2. The 3-2 against west ham in 81 in the league cup semi final. But apart from those days and countless others yesterday is right up there

You know there's more than one way to punctuate, right?

I think you are only seeing what you want to. There isn't always just one bogey man. Take a step back and look at the bigger picture... there is one, you know.

No one wants it we just have different views on how it can be avoided. You are right to judge thorn over the whole season but this game was a disaster waiting to happen. Also you are wrong to crticise the 3 young subs and also Willis. They are not ready for championship football and all will have done their very best.

So did AT get us safe when he took over when we were falling down the table with 2 defeats in last 10 games or so? Then did he lose about every player from the team he took over? Then did he have to play inexperienced players? Did the form come together with experience until injuries took their toll?

I am not saying he do a good job. I can see he has not had it easy though. Yes he made mistakes. Even Fergie makes mistakes. Even I do.

If he would have had the chance of replacing players and failed I would be calling for him to go. We play a much better game than when he took over. If he gets a small amount of backing then fails I will change my mind on him. Until then he has my support.

i liked the look of willis at the back if we get him match fit he could be a real presense at the back and he is only 17! obviously it would be better to give them a game each here and there and have a seasoned quality pro for them to learn from but given time they will all come good

Thorn didn't save us last season. Marlon king did almost single handedly.

As for being proud of the kids yesterday ... as a father I would agree that theyre being there was something to be proud of alone. From a fans point of view ... sorry but apart from the first 15 minutes they garbage.

The result doesn't lie.

One thing I would say also is the kids will be very exposed in the lower leagues. .. can't see them competing against the likes of
portsmouth
doncaster
hudersfield
Notts county
carlisle
bury
preston
wallsall
Orient
or either the sheffield clubs

Add to that this seasons top 2 have 98 and 90 points. 3rd and 4the have 89 and 80 then 78 and 70.

Look at their goals .. 79. 79. 90. 84. 77. 66

Please someone explain how the kids we have are able to do that.

Yes be proud of them but keep some prospective. .. theyre not good.

So Kink saved us? We had him more than the last 10 games. At least you now admit AT lost an excellent player that you say saved our season by himself when we had a much stronger side and squad. What about the orher points I made? You know they are all valid points. Just points you always seem to ignore whilst the vast majority of us can see clearly.

The change in style that Thorn instigated meant that King was put in a position to save us.

Shame they didn't get longer to work together.

We would've got battered whether the kids played or not-we played a seriously good team with their tails up at home. I honestly don't know what people expected to happen.
