I think I need to go for a lie down, I agree with Grendel! Getting rid of Sillett was a huge mistake and where we started the spiral of spending more than we had.

Butcher's 1st act was to put Cyrille Regis on the transfer list.

I'll never forgive him for that.

Butcher, Mackay, Howe, McAllister, Thorn - all terrible.

Worse though in my view was Aidy Boothroyd

Is the whole purpose of this thread trying to prove that Thorn wasn't crap?

I think he means if some one like Hill has 44 per cent after more than 200 games it is perhaps more impressive than say 50 per cent after 20 games? Also the stats have to be looked at alongside other factors.

From my point of view Hill, Milne, Sexton, Sillett and Curtis are the ones I've really rated.

I would have liked more time given to Roland Neilson and Eric Black.

Robins was the best manager we had had in a long time. Not here long enough to really judge but seems to be doing okay at Huddersfield. They were awful when he took
over.

Really like what I've seen and heard from Pressley so far.

Most over rated manager Strachan...but a great player for us. Talked absolute gibberish.

Never get a consensus on this kinda thing. For me you take someone like Reid (a great leader on the pitch) & put him in management & it's a huge fail. Whereas someone like Curtis & Sillett produced miracles.
What's the difference? It's probably individual personality. Big Ron just couldn't muster the passion in himself after his Man U days (it was never going to be bettered), Dalglish managed huge success with Liverpool...he loved everything Liverpool FC & his passion was infectious. On te other hand Harry Rednapp can perform miracles - but seems to be passionate about his role & in motivating players rather than the clubs he works for. Steve Mclaren passionate about coaching...look at the impact he's had at several clubs (including currently)...but media influence usually makes him shunned by fans of most clubs. SP? He seems to have affinity with the club, hunger for success, passion for coaching & developing...just hope he sees it all through with us!
