Tbf he has to say that. Can you imagine the outrage if he came out and said "nah, we're fucking shite pal, we've no chance of making the playoffs"

Exactly. I maintain we're not good enough and are too far behind, it's a marathon not a sprint and history tells us that we'll need 73-74 points to finish 6th, and that's 44-45 points from 22 games, which is title winning form from now on.

How is that title winning material if we finish 6th?

we've got 0% chance of getting into the playoffs. Absolute zero.

Season tickets for next season on me if we do...

I think they will make the playoffs. Have them at 50/1 to get promoted. 17 points from the last 7 games. And they have played less games than all the other teams. 4-1 away win last game. And all since they changed their manager.

The standard of team in this league is that bad, that anyone from Leyton Orient up could go on a run and get one of the two play-off spots available (Working on the presumption that Bristol, Swindon, MK and Preston have the top 4 sewn up). From what I've seen this season the only teams that we cannot compete with are Bristol and Preston, we really have nothing to fear in terms of being able to compete in this league with our current squad (apart from Pressley ofc). If Robins was manager we would be top six right now without a shadow of a doubt.

Robins is a good manager, would have him back here in a heartbeat. He also had the council sussed out as well.

Robins has been slagged off incessantly on this board since he left and I was roundly mocked when I suggested he was our best manager since we were relegated from PL.

The facts are that from October to Feb when he was here only Bmth could match us and both of us were averaging over 2 pts per game.

I don't blame him walking away from the sisu circus.

Agree that he was probably our best manager since relegation. He placed a lot more blame with the council for the state of the club by the way.

That's because he was duped into believing what Joy and Tim told him, like a few people on here.

But there is no doubt that we were a much better unit under MR than any other recent manager.

It's only a matter of time before they go for world domination eh?

No one on here believes 'Joy and Tim' onot this forum. It's just because some cannot accet that maybe the council actually played thwork part in what happened. Unless you are claiming that the average fans know more than an ex-manager about what was going on surrounding the club?

Not sure about that, Fisher and Seppala couldn't organise a fucking prayer in a mosque.

Edit - I never said the council weren't partly to blame, but Joy and Tim want to blame everyone else apart from themselves. This nightmare of a football club has happened on their watch, no one else's.

OR because that is what he actually thought?

Always a conspiracy isn't there?

We're talking about form over the remaining 22 games.

6th place is usually 73-74 points, therefore we need 44-45 points.

Over 22 games that is 2+ points per game average. A 2+ point per game average over a 46 game season is 92-94 points. Good enough to win the league most seasons - therefore a 2+ point per game average over the remaining 22 games is hitting and maintaining title winning form just to finish 6th.

TBF he isn't lying - just expressing his opinion. Which I share btw.
Look at it in another way, we are 7 points behind and to close that gap will require we do 6-7 wins on the trot.
It's not impossible - in theory.

We have had a pretty good run lately, but we are no closer to the play offs than 6 matches ago.

we dont need 6-7 wins on the trot because the season does not end in 6-7 games.

its january ffs

Don't call me a liar, that's I my opinion. You may not agree with it but that doesn't make me a liar.

I am a football fan, but yes I'm also a realist and given that we're 18th, not scoring many, have a shocking recent home record I don't think we're good enough.

This is like Groundhog Day from the last 2 year, i maintained we weren't good enough, didn't have enough to put together that type of form, you argued that I (and otis) were talking BS, yet both seasons we were right.

I may well be stupid, but not because I say we need 6-7 wins on the trot to catch up.

Say we win the next 6 matches that will give us 18 points to add to our 29 = 47 pts.
Bradford and Sheff U continue taking an average of 1.5pts/game giving them 9pts to add to their 36 pts = 45pts.
So 6 wins on the trot and we are in the play off. Then we need to stay there by harvesting an avg of 1.5-1.6pts per game.

Don't take it literally - 'the next 6 games'. It's to give an impression of how difficult it will be. And every game we don't win will mean one less game to get there.
We will need - as Stu says - a league winning form for the rest of the season.
Are we that good? We haven't been so far, even though the current form is decent it's far from good enough.

The poor run we went on when Reda got sent off and Nouble were injured ruined our season.

the 2 seasons you were on about had 10 point deductions, notice you failed to mention that.

what a piece of work you are.

also note that im not saying we will make playoffs, i am saying they are possible.

so it is lying to say were too far away. it can be your opinion we wont get the pts needed but it isnt fact to say we cannot get the points needed.
