Hunt took one week. Why?

I can't understand how you get 1 week for Hunt to get fit. He signed on 8th Jan following a week's training with us, and appeared for the first time on 23rd against Southend. He then played 45 minutes against Scunthorpe and hasn't been seen since. I didn't go to Southend but saw him against Scunthorpe, he didn't look match fit to me.

So, staying on the facts (as uncomfortable as you are with it)...

* There was no thread entitled 'All time worst Coventry Player.'

* I didn't say Peter Atherton was our 'All time worst Coventry player. I said, he was one of our 'Below average at best' centre backs.

Grendel, this clamor of yours is proving nothing but counter productive.

If you don't want to answer the question, just say you don't, I'll understand.

I understand that now I am making a bit of an effort you are struggling - your really struggling.

The reason for lack of fitness is irrelevant - totally - and you know it.

Which of course is bollocks.

Why weren't we a better team when he went off? Did our performances go down hill when he came on? Did we play better when he didn't play at all?

The answer to all is of course no.

Did he run the game on Saturday? Has he had more than one good game?

The answer to all is of course yes.

Boy are you going to be disappointed if he stays fit, ends up being our player of the season and because of that we go up.

It's refreshing that there are balanced reasonable posters like wingy who out there views in a mature and reasoned manner.

In my view he wasn't MOM on Saturday and again the ratings thread shows I'm not alone.

Did you go?

I'm gutted I am not a balanced, reasonable poster.

I wonder if one day, with a bit of practise, I could be Wingy too.

lol ....you sure showed me

It's as relevant as asking why (you think) Hunt was fit? Is it not?

How is the reason relevant. You and one other poster suggested that he was unfit due to a variety of factors. One from you that methods are different than a decade ago when apparently Mick Quinn was playing for CCFC. I believe it's irrelevant and also a diversion but citing a player who has also adapted to this league and who has not kicked a ball for months can turn out for two games in a row suggests your theory is - shall we say - misplaced.

The irrelevance is because we made a flagship signing knowing he couldn't play a full part for several weeks but we kept accommodating him in bit part roles and the the team did not benefit.

The nonsense this manager is beyond scrutiny is exactly that - nonsense. Many positives have been made but there have been some notable errors. My view is this was one of them and he should have not been selected until issues were ironed out.

A somewhat more reasoned view than some of the hysterics on here.

Grendel.

Rather than answering a simple question, you chose to spend a good half hour trawling through the SBT archives to find something that doesn't end up supporting your false accusation against me.

Then you still don't answer the question, saying it's 'irrelevant', only to ask the same type of question yourself.

You're coming across as someone that genuinely thinks they own a 'dusty, damp corner of the internet'.

That's the definition of 'struggling'

.

For what it's worth, I agree with this sentence.

Stop feeling threatened, stop the aggressive stance and the pathetic attempts at trying to demean and discredit. All I want is to garner (crowbar) a response to a valid question.

The truth is, neither you, or I know the truth behind Cole's lack of fitness. Why is that so hard for you to admit?

The notion that fitness/training methods are so different nowadays compared to 10 years ago is pushing it, to be fair.

So gym equipment, computers and the resulting analysis hasn't changed in a decade?

Righto. My mistake.

Granted, between 1996 and 2006 the difference was massive, but less so between 2006 and 2016.

Ingestible and wearable computer tracking, carbon nanotechnology, Fluid dynamic tracking, surgery (recovery time) advances ....

...it isn't all about laps and cones anymore. Everything is tracked, monitored and planned.

Players are expected to have specific levels of fitness via the data this technology provides.

I hazard a guess at yes. If they're doing it in the second tier in the US, it's reasonable to assume they're doing it in the third tier in England.

You're priceless.

The question was regarding the advances in the last 10 years. Which you earlier agreed had advanced. Now you jump on board against your own opinion in order for a cheap poke at your new perceived threat.

I'm flattered.

You are about as much of a threat to me as the Krankies are to Morecombe and Wise in the comedy duo stakes

Then why waste so much of your valuable time trying to discredit my opinion?

Unless you're just a bit weird of course.

Let it go US, meanwhile what I'd like to know is; are you feeling the Bern?

I just got a text message reply from a professional that trained with Sheffield United. He described their fitness technology as 'the works'.

What league are they in ?

I didn't realise that none of this technology was around in in 2006 and that clubs were still reliant on cones and laps then?!

Oh well, I suppose that ProZone was another of Ranson's myths.

With the technology of the time I assume? What a strange question. This whole thing with you claiming that technology hasn't evolved in a decade is quite bizarre.

How's the Bluetooth working on your MG Maestro ?

Obviously technology has evolved; that wasn't the point though, you claimed you cannot compare an athlete today to one 10 year ago.

* I would like to point out that I earlier suggested giving JC another year on his contract. I have now revised that though and think we should offer him a 5 year one as he is obviously one of the most superior athletes on Earth.

And I maintain that....given the reasons I've repeated.

Different players, different leagues, different styles, different formations, different technology ....and different decades.

Bluetooth has been available on phones since 2000 and car integration well before 2006 - what the fuck are you on about?

Are you really doing this? Good lord. For someone who isn't threatened, you're all over my every word, even trying to 'cash-in' on the tongue in cheek ones.

This thread hasn't been your best. I'd let it drop down the page.
