Does it make that much difference compared to playing it on a decent 4K TV on a console?
There is a big difference anyway when gaming on a monitor at 144hz as opposed to a 4k TV that are usually 50 60 hz
Added to the fact a 4k TV will have much larger response times.
Obviously you could get the Holy grail, a 200 plus hz 4k monitor with a 1ms response time
But in realistic terms to the normal eye, how much difference is there?
Frame rate and tearing matters far more than resolution for gaming I reckon. I am jealous on that front. Though next gen there’s support for high frame rates and variable refresh rates like with G-sync. Though I doubt I’ll be able to afford a telly that supports it.

Wow and lol are by far best games on pcI prefer pc gaming for things like strategy games but I find pc's hassle in general as I have no idea what the information means and if components are compatible etc.
I won't be in any rush to buy a next gen console. Still plenty of top PS4 games I haven't played and I only have a standard hd TV which is perfectly fine for me but it won't get the benefits of the next gen.

Not to bad of a price tbh, and yea my Current pc is a bit lower spec than yours because I've been waiting for the 3000 series gpus, I also got some of my parts from scan the rest amazon black Friday pc parts are amazing. My daughter has got super into The Sims and wants a PC that can handle all the mods and top settings. I’ve decided with Switch Pro on the way I might skip a PlayStation generation for the first time and play streaming and the odd game of FIFA locally.
I don’t want to spend £1k on a box to do this, is that even possible? What should I be looking at to give me enough headroom to upgrade and play proper games if I change my mind?
It’ll probably double as a work PC so I’ll likely add lots of RAM to whatever I get for that, and also probably double as a Plex server.
Not even sure where to start with the gaming side. Don’t understand graphics cards at all or what an average recommended spec is.

My advice is to wait for the stores etc to open, as all the prices are inflated as its so hard to get anything... Scalpers are dominating the market even on PC... Wait for 3 or 4 months, inbox me and I can put you a parts list together, I'd even be willing to build it for you for nothing... Saves a couple hundred quid that way
Example, I can sell my graphics card for 600 on ebay second hand atm... It should cost 450 brand new... However once the market goes back to normal and the new graphics cards become more common, my card will drop a good 150 quid I reckon

Ok mate, it depends on your budget really, go from there tbhCheers. Im comfortable enough building it myself. Just not sure what a modern PC with a bit of headroom for any games coming out this gen would look like. I’m not a graphics whore so as long as it runs modern games I’m happy, the recommended specs for the Sims seem modest enough outside the graphics card which I have no idea what’s what.

I can't really justify having such an expensive machine at this current time , will look to get myself a ps5 when they are freely available .

If you playing a game on PC(Lets just say its The Witcher 3) with Xbox/Ps4 controller, on a HDTV with the PC hidden out of view you wouldn't even know what system your playing the game on. This mentality is common though a lot of people I've asked why they wouldn't game on a PC just say I don't like playing on a PC, but cant really explain why.I just can’t game on a PC. Even with a joypad and a TV it feels weird to me. Don’t know why. Wish I could cos it’s basically free games.
I switched back in 2013 when the ps4 and Xbox were released I was underwhelmed, as there wasn't any noticeable jump in quality from 360/ps3 especially in earlier titles.I will be switching from PlayStation along with several other friends rather than purchase ps5s, very excited and looking forward to learning something new... Anybody ever made the switch on here...
