We hear comments of liquidation, bullshit statements from fisher etc!
If we are going to stand any chance of coming straight back up from division 3 then Sisu need to be planning now. Nothing is happening other than patronising statements?
The takeover is not happening as a division 3 team not owning their ground is not a good investment.
As a result I suspect we may be having these discussions when the season is about to start.
So why dont we form Afc Coventry with Hoffman and Elliott setting it up as they certainly have the business experience.
The club could follow the German and Afc Wimbledon model whereby the fans will always own 51% of the club so that we do not allow these people to come in and leave us in the sh1t when there is not the instant success. I for one would go and support them, and I guess a lot of other fans would.
We could play at Nuneaton or the Butts and put 2 fingers up to the Ricoh.
So come on Joe and Gary how about it?

Been suggested before, but I think it would have to get very, very serious and dire before that happened.

I did suggest that for one game maybe a load of us could go and watch Cov Sphinx, just to show the power we can wield and many others could simply boycott.

Someone said on another post that Port Vale forced their owners out by simply not buying season tickets and starving the club of revenue.

Nothing to stop the threat of that though and it could be drawn up in principal to show that fans mean business, even if it was never carried through to fruition.

Great let's ground share with a non-league team or a third rate rugby ground.

Even better lets get Mr Coventry involved. What's the point of fans owning shares? Mr Coventry will be on CWR with his ticking clock saying he needs his friends to buy them back!

I do think it's not a bad idea though to actually make it known that fans would be prepared to do this if the owners don't listen or change their stance of seemingly running this club into the ground.

Without fans there is no club. Could certainly be drawn up as an option and with enough support could show the owners that the fans mean business!

I'm not saying let's do it, but the very threat of doing it and support from the City fans in agreeing that it potentially could happen might make a difference. Brinksmanship!

That is the better idea at the moment. Not buying season tickets.

However I bet 5000 fans could rake up a grand each to buy the club for a million. Keep a 50 percent stake in the club with the other 4 million.

Partner up with hoffman and his 5 million. Making him chairman.
Using his investors money to deal with the debt and players wage and the other financial dealings.

We have 5 fans on the board such as keys. Graham heally. Bobby gould. And a rotating 2 seats for fan share holders. Giving us a proper input.

We could even referend major decisions to the the club 5000 owners.

How about it? Club 5000

I'm in for a grand ... who wants to set this up? ??

If you are not in favour of this idea, in view of what Gary Hoffman has said today, indicating that no take over is going to happen soon, what do you expect will happen to rescue us, and who do you think is going to do the rescuing ? Surely this is better than the slow, lingering, painful death we are going through now.

5000 fans stumping up a grand each ? Not a hope in hell in these troubled times. Most people are struggling to pay their bills never mind having a grand to spare !

And where would you get the £30 million to pay SISU off. Do you not think that GH would have done this if it was possible ?

kduffy thats a typical no mark comment!
I know you could protest at Soton against Sisu! That'll change everything der!!
Do you actually think Sisu give a sh1t.
They are a hedge fund all they are interested in is the balance sheet.
They will do whatever they want and if that means liquidation then that will happen.
So how about some constructive comments?

So many have great creative idea's to save the club.

But how can forcing the club to close help save it? A new club AFC Whatever would NOT be the same club. It wouldn't have any history, no emotional moments to recall and tell your grandchildren, no FA cup to display. It would just be another club at the bottom of the football hierachy.

I think this sort of scheme used to be known as something like 'shares' before big bad SISU came and did the reverse of Robin Hood.....

They took everyone's shares, for nothing.

Time to hand them back........

I cannot respond constructively to nonsense. On the one hand you want to "create" AFC Coventry and play on some parkland in Nuneaton. Then you say protest against liquidation...surely liquidation is what you want so we can have AFC Coventry with good old Bobby and Keys on the board. Perhaps Snoz can be manager again (oh no sorry he's a SISU puppet forgot). All sound a bit silly?:thinking about:

The more we slip down the leagues the less silly AFC Coventry is going to become.

Think if it was organised properly then the threat of it may make headlines and get Sisu thinking.

Lots of stuff in the business world and white papers in the government that can be just 'going through the motions' or bluff with little reality at the conclusion of things.

As I said earlier, if they can threaten liquidation then we can surely threaten AFC Coventry. How the fook would they know how serious it was or not?

Look I respect your opinions but where is the threat. The club would have to start at least 4 levels below the blue square so would smaller than bedworth, Atherstone etc. There is no ground and no one would want to watch let alone invest.

sorry but don't agree are we foot ball fans or sheep following a crowd. we want to watch a true football match with a team with passion and playing for a cause. we don't have that at CCFC. take a look at my post "get real" there is talk on here of threats etc re forming the club is a real threat and hey whats the problem with being a small club. if the foot balls good its a no brainer!

AFC Coventry will remove all our history and everything that binds the supporters to the club. However deep we slip down the leagues.

You really believe sisu would take any notice of headlines in that direction? I don't think they will even blink for a second.
They will just go on in their efforts to make the club self-sustainable as this is the only way they can ever hope to sell the club and regain a fraction of their investors money.

You seem to suggest that it's not ok if sisu make a threat, but ok if the fans do. That's double standard, surely.

All this 'sisu threaten to liquidate the club' started with a Keys tweet. He didn't name a source. Then Mr. Mutton said something in the same mold - he didn't name a source either (it could easily be Keys tweet). Finally Keys tweet again that the council have now confirmed that sisu have threaten to liquidate the club. And suddenly everybody believes it to be true ... still nobody have asked sisu (journalists where are you) so in truth we don't know and cannot yet make any argument that take Keys tweet as fact.

If AFC Coventry is such a good idea why hesitate just go and do it. FC Manchester did it and both they and MUFC seem to be doing ok. Because unless you actually form it and start playing then it is no threat at all. Unless you start the club, finance it organise it, sign players and play matches it is just more hot air and havent we had enough of that ?.

Love the arrogance of some CCFC fans - we will just walk into the Butts and take over, sorry ground share. Pitch will be awful for football, it hasnt the parking for the fans you hope for or the seating, oh and Coventry RFU might not welcome it. The council might not licence it and the leagues may not either. It will take a lot of time and effort let alone money and if not successful will quickly flounder imo. Or shall we go to Nuneaton ? sure they will gladly stand aside for us. This isnt CCFC going in there it is a small newly formed uncertain non league team that apparently was only set up to force SISU out going in to someone elses ground very much as the junior club in the arrangement. Good luck with that.

Personally there is only one team for me - it isnt about SISU, GH, JE or even Keys - my team is Coventry City FC always has been and finances willing always will be.

That said if I want to watch a proper football match with passion skill endeavour grit enjoyment etc and to feel involved and part of it - i go watch my lad and his team play (he is 14).

I think the idea needed airing and I applaud that but sorry it doesnt work for me

just my opinion

Always value your opinion OSB. Thing is the OSB, if we are liquidated we won't have a club.

And Godiva, where did I say it's not okay for Sisu to make a threat but it's okay for the fans to? I haven't said at all. Neither is okay, but my point is they aren't the only ones who are able to make threats and carry them out.

And have Wimbledon had their history wiped out?

Why wouldn't you buy a season ticket? I'm looking forward to league 1 and the possibility of a great season for once!

Come on people you are all looking at the negative constantly....is this a Coventry thing?

Whilst we are having blue sky thinking - how many season ticket holders would pay £1 per month - by direct debit? If we all did - say 9000 of us last year that would be the salary of 1 very very decent or 2 or 3 players at league 1 level. This way we would all become very minor stake holders in the club. £1 a month is an amount most season ticket holders could afford I would think. I know people will say that is what the ticket money is for but there are a lot of non player costs - this would be ring fenced money to be spent on players wages only and we might feel we own a bit of the club. Just a thought! PUSB

That idea in a slight different variation was aired by Len Brody last year - and, needless to say, was shot down within 2 seconds.

Okay,

So liquidation probably won't happen, in spite of Richard Keys saying it is the most likely outcome at present, but still, wouldn't it be worth at least ideas being bounded about on here about drawing up some sort of contingency plan in terms of an AFC Coventry and starting from scratch in case it ever does?

Or would fans just rather wait until it happens and then try and pick up the pieces from there? Or do people just think it is brinksmanship and will never get to that stage?

Just think if people think it is a possiblity, no matter how small, that it is worth at least discussing a way forward if CCFC in its present form ceases to exist.

I agree Otis.
If some prominent people started to talk seriously about forming a new club Sisu might start to panic and we might have some action.
I feel we are just drifting, and if its true sisu are broke then all that will happen will be more players sold etc.
We need a plan b just like Barcelona!
Each day we are drip fed more bad news.
Today its Brian Richardson of all people, however, it makes you wonder where did all the money go?
