I had a FL response too... (1 Viewer)

To bring you up to speed, I emailed Mr Clarke at the FL & respectfully asked him how he could reconcile his 125 Anniversary speech referring to CCFC & the "fit & proper" test with the reality of the owners. Something he said about owners had to be shown not to have done anything not legal &/or not ethical. Those questions were not actually answered (surprise-surprise).

The response was largely standard patter & reference to rules & what Bob Ainsworth got. The bit that really caught my eye was..."The administrators had previously sold the assets that were under their control to Otium Entertainment Group. This included the right and title in the one ordinary share in The Football League that constitutes membership of The League".

So we went from CCFC Ltd "no assets", to CCFC Ltd holding the Golden Share...which I remember reading that this is of no actual value, owned by the FL who entrust it to whoever they deem fit - to, CCFC Ltd selling the GS to Otium...or is the GS different from the one ordinary share in the FL??? I'm confused on that.

Still, I cannot see how withholding payment of legally owed rent can be see as a legal & ethical move by the FL...& still they cannot provide any reconciliation or fit & proper explanation.

To quote The Life of Brian - "Oooh, he's making it up as he goes along"

But obviously, only so far as the FL roles give "him" discretion so to do.........

I've just searched through the link they sent me regarding the "fit & proper" test...
http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/FAQ/FAQsDetail/0,,10794~2428071,00.html

It is well worth a read in fairness, as it demonstrates how toothless it is (& hence they are). It's a frigging self-test!!! The FL delegate the responsibility to club's owners to make sure they satisfy the expectation. Thing is if the owners are of illegal, immoral or unethical leanings...surely they'll happily lie to pass it? Absolute joke.
