The good news is that the fans win this one as he is struggling to rename the club but the fans also lose because I heard that the club has actually been for sale for 5 months and no offers have come in. Without his money they are screwed. Tough one. Rock and hard place.

It's not just about the signings is it... they were put in an advantageous position with his money, which ultimately allowed them to reach the PL.
My point is that clubs are happy to take the money of a rich benefactor, yet bemoan the fact that the person who has just given up £50m of his money might want to modify or change aspects of that business.
This is why I take issue with the 'Fix Football' mantra.
Fans want it both ways... 'observe the traditions of history' - but you can chuck a shitload of money at us so we can dine at the top table while everyone else falls further and further away.
Yes but he's not wanting to change "aspects of the business" though is he? He wants to change their name!!!
It does indeed work both ways so these Chairman/investors also need to know their customer base when they buy into a club and its traditions and I would suggest that changing a teams name, colour of shirts and the city/town they play in are probably the three major things a clubs fans are not going too be happy with.
Personally, he sounds like a spoilt little child who is doing the business equivalent of picking his ball up and taking it home with him because he can't get his own way.
And at no point during that were they saying 'go on then, change our name'
Either way it's perfectly acceptable to approve and disapprove of things the same people do. For instance, while I'm glad we're back at the Ricoh there are things the owners have done I didn't like. Can't think of them off the top of my head.
