Morning Cov fans,

Do you think we have someone lined up? From a board point of view you would think they would move quite quick to stem the disappointment of us losing King! What do you all think? PUSB

personally I'd rather the club took their time and found the right replacement instead of rushing in and panic buying. Remember when we sold McSheffrey to Brum and Micky Adams panicked and signed McKenzie and Kyle? I don't want a situation like that again

Would anyone have the footage of him being boo'd off when he got red carded. Can't remember who we played but I'd love to see that again!

Nick, some clubs are still signing good players as we speak. I agree we need to make sure he's right, but on the other hand get them in early makes sense to me, and if what they are saying is true they have them lined up.

I really can't think of anyone who would be an easy replacement to be honest.. Which is strange because every other year I can think of loads of cheap good players. Perhaps it's just because Marlon had such quality about his performances..

David Nugent replacement for Marlon?

David Nugent currently out of contract, would be a great replacement in my opinion?

Ebanks Blake loan
Victor Anichebe loan
Phillips Player FW Coach
N Tyson or Dany N'Guessan

Any 3 would be great as these bring Pace, Power and Goals with any mix or with Juke, Mac, Eastwood or Even Platt...

Hi Fellas.
In the one season he was with us, Marlon KIng showed us what a class act he was, Pace, awareness, and a fantastic engine, and the ability to score goals for fun.
I think Marlon is impossible to replace, at our level, and all the posts about who will replace him are pointless, thats why him turning his back on the fans who had bonded with him despite his record off the field, is such a body blow, on the eve of the coming season.
Its very likely that the club can fill his shirt, but his boots will be a different matter.
I lay no blame at the door of the club, in this case I think they did every thing in their power to keep marlon, but were let down at the eleventh hour, by the forces of Human Nature.

Firstly I think Marlon may well come to regret moving to the worst scoring team in the premiership. It isnt that they lack goal scorers but they lack a free scoring team. Hope it continues.

Dont think we should be looking to fill his boots as such. Any player we bring in will have their own skills and attributes that will be moulded into the team.... it isnt about one player. I think Jutkiewicz is set up to have a good season for us, he will have learnt from King, is a year stronger, and i am guessing he wont worry if he is the number one striker. There are options in the squad to link with him, although i wouldnt keep Eastwood - simply not been good enough and plays for himself and not the team. The team ethic is going to be so important to us next season.

Personally I would bring in Phillips, he has great experience to pass on to our younger players, can do a job at Championship level despite the age, and frankly there are few better goalscorers in the game. The difference between him and King may in one sense be speed & work rate but his positional sense in the box is better and he doesnt waste as many chances. I could see him playing off Jutkiewicz. Then i would bring in a young lad with a lot of pace but not sure who yet.

Lastly, I have to say I like AT's comments on King and his importance to us. It isnt about sour grapes it is a fair assessment of what is

Ebanks Blake would be awsome, but he could have the pick of any championship club,so he would'nt pick us.Anichebe has just signed a 4 year deal at Everton and very much part of the squad.Tyson's going or gone to Derby and N'Guessan is a winger whose not good enough anyway. As for kevin Phillips,as a bit part player yes,but then we would have to bring another striker in to play when he doesnt, which means more money which we havent got.....there realy arent to many options at the minute!!!

Ebanks Blake would be excellent. It would probably be a shot in the dark getting him here though wouldn't it?
And yeah i'm disappointed King left but its not the end of the world if we get some more players in... I think the only reason he looked so good is because we are used to utter shit up front for at least 5 or 6 years and we'v been crying out for a consistent goalscorer for ages. At the end of the day statistically last season he scored what 13? and 4 or 5 were penalties. Thats still not great and those goals only accounted for a handful of results. I think Jutkiewicz will score more than that next season and if we get another good-ish striker in AND with the option of Sheffers upfront then I think we will be ok. But then is "ok" good enough? :/

12 goals on 28 games is very decent,so King cant be knocked for that,he is replacable though,i still think Dennis Wise is the best player weve had scince relegation though.

I would not be surprised if we have to go through so much red tape with SISU that signing a player puts us miles behind other clubs in our ability to react quickly.

I think this is how it is. It will go from Thorn to the board, board to SISU, SISU to their investors and then by the time it has done that the player has signed for somebody else.

I think we need to be a bit more realistic, we have very, very little chance of signing an Ebanks-Blake or Nugent quality of player.
Personally, I’d like to see us go for Adam le Fondre. Ok, he’s unproven at a high level, but so was Charlie Austin, Jermaine Beckford, Brett Pitman etc. Fondre clearly know where the goal is - 17, 21, 30, 25 in the last four seasons.

Only issue is money, and whether the board are willing to spend anything at all. He may cost between 500k and a 1m.

Nugent didnt really set the Championship alight last season so think he wudnt be a wise move. Another striker who hasnt hit form in a long while. I fear he'd be another Freddy

Derby and Fester have already put in "laughable" bids of around 200k.

I'd quite like Scotland. My mate's an Ipswich fan and says Jewell doesn't rate him so we'd probably stand a chance. Also they've just signed Chopra - pretty jealous about that.

Saying that, it's nice to see Cardiff falling apart. If only we could bring in cov fan Peter Whittingham to play at the top of AT's diamond!

The question is more who would want to come. We cant just drug these players and drag them to the ricoh...can we? Besides do we need to replace him? People seem to be convincing themselves he wasnt that good
