If we re-sign King, get in a good goalkeeper, and maintain our spine, this alone i am confident of, if we do this, aswell as signing good players like a Kevin Phillips type player, I will be down the bookies putting money on our promotion

no team with major investment ever goes up leiscster (cant spell) and ipswitch both didnt get promoted. then teams with average money QPR,Norwich, reading, forest, swansea, all either got promoted or into the play offs

QPR - average money?!

Also, it's rubbish you won't get promoted without major investment. It helps but didn't do Blackpool or Norwich any harm not throwing money about.

QPR spent money on wages rather than transfers which meant that they had the pick of those available and surplus to requirements in adition to some real quality. Tarabt would grace many Premiership sides and they had Kyle Walker for the first half of the season too. The largest budgets will always do better. It's a bid sad that's the case but the results consistently back it up at almost every level, every season. There are exceptions, but that's exactly what they are so let's pray that sooner or later we become an 'exception' too.

With our current squad, we won't finish any higher than 17th. Add King, maybe upto 12th.

Even if King signs, we are still 4 or 5 better players away from a promotion push.

Jeez, that's completely extreme though! Nobody's saying money doesn't count (in fact I'm pretty sure Rob was saying money makes a difference) but we are never going to get Man City style investment! Therefore we kind of have to hope we'll be one of the exceptions. Hopefully Thorn can do the business.

SISU bit off more than they could chew when they took over. They have invested but their investment wasn't enough to improve things. We are not run badly at all but the current model is not sustainable - that isn't SISU's fault - that is the fault of Robinson and Richardson who caused lasting damage to CCFC.

In reality, our only ambition should be to avoid relegation.

I said after the norwich game we have a goood enough side for promotion, but then you look at the teams that have come down brum and west ham will wont promotion and blackpool will try, and then you look at leicester and ipswich spending big overall i think there are around 10 teams going for top5 and a few more more for the final play off place, unless we keep king and get a good keeper in and maybe get a bright young star in thenwe could sruggle for top half

Every season since 2001, the Championship has become more competitive and more recently, there have been 12-14 sides all with a genuine claim to be promotion contenders; we have not been one of those sides.
Now West Ham, Blackpool, Birmingham, Ipswich, Cardiff, Notts Forest, Middlesborough, Burnley, Reading/Swansea, Leeds, Leicester, Portsmouth and possibly Southampton can be considered contenders. Unlikely we will finish higher than any of those sides.

Blackpool maybe back where they are but with an extra £30M in their ass pocket! For me that is progress.

First thing.... What?

Secondly, nice first line. Great footing to set out on :claping hands:

Third, I was merely pointing out exceptions. You're so blinded by your hatred of SISU that the actual team doesn't seem to matter anymore. What do you actually think you can do about SISU? I'm not a fan but most have realised that they're not going anywhere for a while so if you're just going to post anti-sisu stuff until the day arrives they do go can you at least do it more objectionally instead of taking offence to the slightest argument.

Blackpool were that team, and as it stands they've got no huge debts to eat up the money. They're in amazingly good stead compared to two years ago.

Correcto! But I think it's better to concentrate on the team at the moment, there's nothing we can do about sisu being here - and to be fair to them the new regime do seem to be trying to keep to their word in trying to involve the fans and communicating more.

at the present time nothing has really changed. Granted AT played some pretty football under very little pressure. We have one or two decent players and one exceptional one. Take each side in the league and decide whether we will take more points of them than they will take of us and it looks decidedly mid table at best.

Nasty summer in the transfer market and it isn't even that

Seriously, I'd stop insulting people's intelligence. I have put it's hypothetical, NOT a fact. Which is correct. A Fact is something that can be proven, it exists or has happened. Your sentence was hypothetical because you were speculating what could, in your opinion, happen in a years time. THAT is what people are trying to tell you, just because YOU believe it and just because YOU put fact does NOT make it a fact. In MY opinion no, I don't think we'll go up but I don't speculate on the future because as we've seen in this division, time and time again, you cannot predict anything - FACT.

Garry Hoffman was a potential buyer who needed outsite investment to buy the club and they have to be the right kind of investors. If he finds the investment he will come in for a bid if not we are stuck with sisu.
