So we cancelled a rookie's contract who was never going to get anywhere near the first team to bring in somebody in a position needed who will probably slot straight in.

As for CCFC not paying League 2 wages, they clearly do as other managers have mentioned repeatedly.

Not arguing with anything you have said, just reminding those saying. we need 2/3/4 players a strikers, wide players pace etc Robins has stated its one out, one in. Although I’d love us to be able to bring in 2 or 3 newbies I’m also of the opinion the way MR is currently setting up his team doesn’t help

We need 2 to 3 players to add to the current crop who can:

1. To enhance what we have and make us a more potent attacking force.

2. Allow us another option or formation within a game.

So passing ability, trickery, pace and vision.

Keep saying it but it’s so much more than money. Money could be enough to buy even the worst owners promotion but it’s the sum of all parts that count and SISU would never invest enough to overcome the negativity of their presence let alone buy a promotion. If we go up this year it will be thanks to sheer hard work by the playing staff and a slice of good luck. It will be in no way thanks to SISU and the negativity millstone they throw around the clubs neck.

If we don’t go up this season I envisage the pattern we’ve experienced for all their tenure will continue. Decline at an ever increasing velocity. They’re incapable of creating an environment that promotes success which is why we’ve only witnessed decline under them.

Having seen division 4 at first hand for the first time this year it has surprised me how bad the standard is, even when compared to the league above. I think even Sisu may struggle to get us relegated from this division. I am sure they will give it a good go however.

Agreed. I think many players have trouble simply returning a throw in to the taker on the volley/ half volley. You'd think that was basic stuff .

I personally think we did really well with recruitment in the summer. We had to build a team around a younger, core players and unfortunately, we lost George Thomas too. We've got the best defence in the league, Kelly and Doyle have both been good signings and I think Nazon and McNulty have been very good signings (if Nazon can sort his head out) - both should be aiming for 15+ goals. We have been unlucky to have season-ending injuries to Jones and Andreu, and now Vincenti, so if we can finish 3rd, it'd be a really good achievement.

We've done this in one transfer window and the teams around us have had seasons building a squad to challenge for promotion, so I'm happy with our progress. Based on our results against the best sides in this league, we clearly have one of the best teams in this league. However, I think a Newport fan said on this forum, this league can be tricky, the likes of FGR, Morecambe, Newport and so on, can be banana skins. Which they have been, and our record against the 'lesser' teams in this division has been poor, and I put that down to tactics, not personnel. I'll give MR the benefit of the doubt because it's a completely new side, we've had injuries to key players, we're in a new league and I think we may lack a bit of 'know how' in this league. If we fail to get promoted, I think if we recruit well ahead of next season, we'll get promoted.

To be 4th going into the New Year is not a bad place to be, yet we really should be in better position.
