You agree a playing budget for transfers and salaries. Sometimes it will be more economic to sign better quality free transfers on higher wages than to sign contracted players of the same quality with a fee.

Sure but if you're propping up those expensive, 3 year contracts on income from sales then it is unsustainable unless you can develop players and sell them on consistently. That is much harder to do with a small, undersized squad heavily reliant on loans.

Between 30-50% of fees from Vik and Gus.

in hindsight a percentage of fees received would be a better way to frame this.

with the playoff run making us close to 4 mill and season ticket sales hopefully hitting between 12-14k minimum spend has to be 6 mill and if Vik goes we’ve got to be looking at 10mill plus.

I think when you consider we need about 13 players. £10m isn’t actually that much.

Don’t think we’ll spend that much, probably about £5m. More likely to spend on wages.

I'm guessing by spend you just mean transfer fees, in which case I'd say 2-5

About 5 will be loan players.

10m to 15m. Closer to 10m if just Gyokeres is sold and closer to 15m if Hamer is also sold. This should leave a fair bit towards the higher wage bill. But it could be less depending on any clause added by Brighton.

The problem we would have is if we sell Gyokeres for a large amount other clubs will raise the asking price for players we're interested in.

6 circa 2 million pound players and then wages. Not much point spending big on transfer fees if you can’t offer a competitive wage
