Realistically it looks like we'll have to avoid defeat in the remaining fixtures, with Brizzle at home to Barnsley on the last day, if we're still in the equation we will certainly need something at St Mary's.

Mine was in response to Brighton Sky Blue. Was on the very first page of the thread though.

We will need to win our last 3 games

Bristol will Beat Barnsley and draw at home to West Ham and away at Burnley which will give them 49 points. If we win our last 3 games we would stay up on goal diff.
That will not happen. We blew it away to Forest and Bristol and at home to Peterborough.

If Bristol win their last 3, Barnsley will lave lost one one of their last 3, because its against Bristol. Their other two are away at Hull (10th) and home to Brighton (8th) so they might lose them all and finish on 47 .
If so we'd only need 47 to beat them on GD.

Good point.

I am also not at all convinced that Bristol will beat Barnsley, draw at home to West Ham and draw at Burnley too. That would put them on a EIGHT match unbeaten run. Just can't see it. Everyone has accpeted that Bristol are not a good team by any stretch of the imaginiation.

An 8 match unbeaten run? Highyl, highly unlikely.

Why do they worry you?

Last sequence of results;

Lost, lost, lost, lost, drew, drew, lost, lost, lost. They actually have just one win in 18 games.

Not saying it iis going to be easy, but there is surely nothing to worry about with Donny.

As recent unexpected results prove, form is not something we can rely on to predict results. I'm suggesting that now Donny are no longer under the pressure of survival, they will most likely be a different proposition...

Well yes, of course. But I ask again, who would be a good team to play against then? Who would we want to play? I can't think of any other team would would give us an easier game. Peterborough had all but nothing to play for and they came here and really had a go at us.

If not Donny then who?

are barnsley on 47 or 48?

if 47,they are plan b,we could do them with 2 wins and a draw vs soton

saying that whats barnsleys GD?

p.s i agree we will prob draw or lose vs millwall knowing us

Good point...I'd definitely choose Donny. But it would be the ultimate sickener to lose to them. It still remains a crucial game...well that may change by Tues evening, let's hope not...so I will have everything crossed on the day. And I'm a believer we'll survive...still!

Its really a 3 way race including Barnsley, Forest are mathematical outsiders but my gut says their safe!

our GD is currently best out of the bottom 5,

But we won't win if we lose! (if ya see wot I mean!) imp:

I can forgive it! Stead's goal was way offside!
If we didn't have to chase the equaliser it would have been a way different story!
despite that loss we're still top six in the form table!

that explains it. thought i might have mis-read it last time i checked with barnsley/burnley sounding similar.
probably would have been better barnsley last in a three way dogfight.
i suppose unless points are picked up along the way though none of it will matter.

Let's remember that the crisis we're facing today is not just the result of a bad season. The bad season is a result of many years mismanagement, poor judgement and bad investment. It's hard to see where or when that is likely to change...

We need 7 points. So as long as we have 8 games to go we will do it.

Three wins needed from our last three games. Reasoning you have to think that bristol can get 4 points from their last three games.
I am worried that we won't get the three points required against Millwall their current form is good.

We want 3 points off Millwall.
nil points an we're buggered!
one point and we're teeterin' on the brink!
Milwall's current form is good, but ours is better, and we're at home!
Millwall 7pts form last 6 games - us 10pts from last 6! imp:

already played them a few weeks ago but it would be tense alright. i don't know what would be worse Bristol City or the red n whites of southampton.
at least if it was against bristol it would still be in our own hands to stay up. it would be torture relying on others for the last day.

Confidence has nothing to do with it that is the requirement needed to have a chance of staying up.
I am just trying to look at it one game at a time and then see where we stand. Whats the point of thinking about the Southampton game now !!!!!

winning 3 from 3 would be exceptional at the bottom of the division.
but 3 wins is not the minimum to stay up.
Its conceivable that 4 teams could finish on 47 points! imp:

The best we can hope for is 47 points.

Therefore, we need Barnsley or Forest to lose all 3 or Bristol to only pick up 3 points in their last 3 games.

Our goal difference is crucial now...that's based on us winning our next 2 games of course....

That about covers it!
47 is about all we can get. And Barnsley and Notts Forest have got 47 already.
Notts Forest have a soft one last against Portsmouth who's heart isn't likely to be in it about then.
Barnsley could loose all 3, their games are tough, Bristol are their softest opponents but they're gonna' fight like stink!
Bristol only have 44 and their games are stiffest, they might flop and finish on 44!
we have every prospect of getting between 4-7 pts in our 3 games.

Well it is conceivable that Bristol could lose against West Ham and then draw the last 2 games, or indeed lose against West Ham, beat Barnsley but then lose at Burnley. 3 points is not that crazy a notion.

Key here is whether we can get the points to make it enough of a contest going into that last game. Quite easily could be that Bristol do get only 3 points. 3 points might be all they need if we don't do our bit.
