How many more players do we need to realistically compete at the top this season? IMO:

2x CB
1x RB
2x CM
1x LM
2x ST

Nail your colours to the mast.

I would say about bang on! I would like to see an experienced gk too but the rest would make me happy.

If (big if) we sign McCann, Reid and Robert I'd still want:

1 ST
1 CM
4 DF - mixture of at least 1 RB 2 CB and maybe another CB that can fill in at LB

It all depends on what formation we're going to play. If we're going to play 343/352/3421 then we need:

2xCBs
2x wingbakcs
1x striker
1x cm
1x attacking mid/winger

I would say at least 5. Maybe 6.

8 is too many IMO. Rather get 5 good players in than 8 ok players. If that's what the budget allows.

2 CB

2 mids

2 strikers

a fair bit depends upon how TM MV & JC rate the progress of the likes Lawton, Spence, Harries, Leahy, Whitmore, Maycock, Bayliss, Shipley Stevenson, the Kelly Evans brace etc.,
from what i've seen pre-season it's looking good,
given the backing TM can assemble a more than competitive squad

2 centre backs
1 right wing back
1 left wing back
1 centre midfield
1 attacking midfielder
1 striker

It's difficult to call, too much bearing on TM's preferred formation.
We clearly need defensive options.
I'd like some more height in the side, more physicality most notably up top. A out and out target man to give us a more robust approach to breaking teams down.
X2 Pacey strong fullbacks.
A set piece specialist, a threat at free kicks would be nice.

Few more than we have at the moment. It comes to something when a triallist has to play the second half of a pre-season game because " we're short of a few bodies at the moment"

Still plenty of time !!!
13 Days should be enough to get them in and hit the ground running
I'd love to know what's going on and what Mowbray is really thinking :muted:

Need a goalscoring cb or 2 so at least when we get a corner its a reward instead of penalising us... ohh and someone to take corners also a powerhouse in midfield and a couple of goalscoring strikers.. see i dont ask for much

Minimum 4 before first game, including at least one striker & one centre half who will be automatic first choice if fit.

The issue with me is that the recruitment of a key defender has been left far too late, should have had someone in the door 2 weeks ago to get familiar with team mates.

We need a penalty-taker.

2 x cb
1 x cm
1 x striker

I think we'll be fine btw. So much drama on here

I would think we need at least 6, not just because we need 2CB's 2CM's and 2 forwards. Looks to me like the whole spine of the team needs strengthening

Right now he has to solve or allow for the current squads
- lack of physicality
- lack of sufficient experience
- lack of bite & ball winning
- lack of proven regular goal scorers
- lack of depth

Young players lack experience & physicality but above all regularly need to be taken out of the firing line to recover from the L1 battles - that means depth of squad is vital. It is unusual for a youngster to play well for 46 games and not burn out - if they do play a full season then they are probably at the wrong level and wont be here long

Still time and TM himself has said the full squad might not be in place before 31-08-2016 (which in itself could be a concern if we don't get off to a reasonable start). My guess is that TM will need a number of the new players to be able to play in several positions - utility players

So at least 6 new ones in, assuming no more sales and TM in his press conference said players out

Hopefully we can cross off a CM if and when McCann signs, but desperately need some defenders, we wasn't good enough last year and all we have done is get rid of some of our regulars since so badly badly lacking in that department

I think now we need to focus on the defence and wing backs.

Centre midfield and attack is pretty much sorted once McCann is here now I think. Maybe a young loan striker as a plan B (but lets not forget K Thomas).

I wonder if we will get Wilson and then some loans for defence?

I'd be amazed if we sign Wilson - he is above this league.

We now have:

Tudgay
Sordell
K Thomas
G Thomas

If we play 1 up front, do we need more? Unless we do get a big target man for a plan B.

I can see it being a loan.

I think so, not expecting Tudgay to play often. K Tomas and G Thomas are unknowns at this level and haven't scored a senior goal between them which leaves just Sordell.

I think with Tudgay we didn't use him properly last season

Kwame Thomas 1.78 cm
Marcus Tudgay 1.80 cm
Marvin Sordell 1.79 cm
George Thomas 1.73 cm
Tudgay is out tallest striker at 5'10".
Our strike force is crying out for height and brutality to bully the oppositions defence.

I like Tudgay but for some reason he's became massively overrated in the eyes of a few.

I dont know about anyone else but we always seem to leave it till the last minute to get players in on a free transfer (what we deal in most of the time) is the same when the retained lists are published as just before the season starts.Getting players in early mean they can bed in and we can hit the ground running.(bad starts very often cannot be recovered)We dont have to say we missed out on this player or that. I blame Mowbray and Mark Venus for our present situation

The players you want are not always available. The location can be wrong. The budget can be wrong (or at least for the deal)..Sometimes what you want just isn't there.

Now tell me who you would sign/have signed?

Not saying who we should or shoud not sign it the timing Kyle Reid who signed tonight has been available since May 10th they dont suddenly become a better player me thinks it just a case of not paying out untill the last minute (wanting to do everthing on the cheap) so then you put up with a smaller pool of players to chose from.

Many players would still of been payed until 1st July so happy to wait and weigh up there options rather than taking the first offer that comes along.
