How Coventry City and Leon Clarke have both suffered since his move to Wolves

Statistics tell horrible story for Sky Blues and former striker
Leon Clarke is having a hard time in his new home - but Coventry City are finding life even tougher without his goals.

The ex-Sky Blues striker missed three glorious opportunities for Wolverhampton Wanderers last night as his barren run at Molineux continued.

Yet it’s Steven Pressley’s side who seem to be reeling more than ever without a prolific Clarke in their ranks.

The former forward was the league’s top scorer with 15 goals when he left for Wolves on transfer deadline day - and the partnership he formed with Callum Wilson wreaked havoc on defences up and down the country.

But since his last league goals for Coventry on December 26, the club have managed just three wins from 15 League One games.

And they’ve only managed 19 goals in 15 games since his last strike compared to 30 in the previous 15 encounters when Clarke was on top form.

His second spell at Wolves has been frustrating largely due to injury and the form of his direct competitors.

After making his debut a day after signing from Coventry he picked up a heel injury that ruled him out for five weeks.

With Nouha Dicko and Bakary Sako on fire during his absence, the hitman has found it hard to get back into the side.

He notched his first goal away at Swindon but has been unable to add to his tally.

Whether he’ll be fully up to speed when Wolves visit Sixfields on April 26 remains to be seen.
