Nah, McShufty is past it being injured for most of last season, but Carl Baker I'd have back as an attacking midfielder due to MR's preference of a 4-2-3-1, plus he played 45 times scored 9 last season.

I'd have Baker back. Passion and plenty of ability for league 2. Pace is not so much required as skill down there.

McSheffrey on the bench, a goal scoring substitute, start him in the cup games etc..

Baker - Yes. Sign him up.

I'd take Baker. Good squad player to have that can play every spot of the attacking 3 in a 4-2-3-1.

NO! Experience down the middle, youth on the flanks!

I'd have Baker back no problem. Mcsheffrey is well overdue retirement though.

Same. I think Baker has still got something to offer. I think McSheffrey was a good player for us before but probably past it now..

Sheffers relied on pace. That is normally the first thing to go. So no thanks. I would be happy enough for Baker to join if he didn't want much. He could still do well in Division 4. But we don't want to end up with too many older players. So not too bothered either way.

No. Whilst I welcome the odd veteran to add some experience and guile, I think it's time we built a team for the long term, players that will form the backbone of the side for a number of years, the way Burton have and the way Swansea did some years ago.

Somebody mentioned to me again this morning that Baker is a genuine possibility.
Not sure where the rumor came from*, but I've now heard it from 2 sources.

*probably from here

This would only work if we injected a bit of extra pace into the middle of that midfield by also resigning McAllister and Dennis Wise.

Baker yes, he never had pace, he would fit in nicely. Still fit, has a passion for playing and for our club.
