How about 4-5-1 (or 4-4-1-1 if you prefer) today?? (1 Viewer)

We had a debate about formations this week but nobody mentioned the tactic of playing Juke as the target man with Gardner in the hole behind him, with a midfield of Baker, Thomas, Clingan and Sheff - t hat has a solid look about it for a tough away day at Pompey.

Also, does anyone know if Bell and ROD are fit now??

I'd quite like to see us try playing with wing-backs. 3 central defenders, wing-backs that have the license to bomb forward and provide width, Sammy holding giving the other 2 CM's freedom to roam, and then still have 2 forwards.
Can't go any worse surely?

CJParker - Not sure about Bell, but I was under the impression that ROD was out until after Xmas.

I htink the 3-5-2 wing backs model went out of fashion in about 1998 when Hod was managing England!

Regards Rod, I heard that too - but BBC's preview for the BHA game said that both Bell and ROD were "in contention" to play, whatever that means, hence the question...
