Needs reporting to the club, it’s got no place in modern society

Yep heard that too. Tbh 10 years ago not only found it funny but would've joined in. Today I just thought urgh proper cringe. Sign of the times, possibly grown up a bit (finally!) but has no place in games today imo.

Was it near you ?. Report it to the club and they can / should look at the cameras. Won’t take long for them to identify

I'm not sure it's worth cctv identifying. Distasteful and unnecessary, have a quiet word with them, but less and less and they'll soon realise. Dont make victims of them, more thoughtless than trying to be offensive imo. Self policing rather than banning orders in the same way we've been fairly pioneering with resolving racist chanting which thankfully you never hear at City these days.

It happens at footie, on Tuesday torment chanting was aimed at a tubby lad in the Pompey end, probably by some just as plump. In fairness the chap took it in good fun. Of course where do you draw the line, don’t hear the horrible racial chants we had years ago. but use of the word gay to some fella in pink, is it homophobic or fun, not sure.

It happens but it doesnt mean it is acceptable. Also it is only a small minority that do it ...little twats that give football a bad reputation and spoil a day out for many on various levels.

These days I believe the football authorities have it on par with racist chanting, is racist chanting just a bit of fun as well? No idea why you’ve tried to suggest it’s ‘a bit of fun’.

I wonder how long “we’re the city boys making all the noise” will carry on before being called sexist / non-inclusive to women.

There was a woman next to me last season that used to join in singing it. She joked we need to change it to “we’re the city fans, up and down the land”

One quick round of “who’s the gay boy in the pink” & if you felt generous you could maybe have put it down to bantz. But a few of our lot just would not let it lie. It went well beyond “a bit of fun”. Gills fan in question didn’t turn a hair or engage even slightly, to his credit - & eventually they gave up.

FWIW I just tweeted the club about it. They don’t need to come down like a ton of bricks, but they should be aware.

Classic bit of whataboutary. The song isn't offensive, singling about somebody and calling them gay in order to insult them is.

Is it also wrong to call Leicester fans inter-bred
And to refer to liverpool fans as coming from slums?
We can all agree that racism is well out of order, but where does banter start to cross the line?
It appears everyone in queuing up to take offence these days and to point the finger of mock outrage at anyone they can.
When did we all suddenly develop such a thin skin?

When we have footballers who can’t come out due to their fears of being ridiculed on the terraces, I’d suggest any homophobic songs cross the line.

And as a follically challenged man I find the song about Greg Downs offensive and hurtful.

( I don't really)
