HOME WIN AGAINST BRISTOL CITY EARNS COVENTRY THE ACCOLADE
|
The League Managers Association five-man Performance of the Week panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, were in agreement that this week, the F&C Investments Performance of the Week Award should go to Coventry City following their excellent 5-4 home win against Bristol City in Sky Bet League One on 11 August 2013. Coventry manager Steven Pressley will receive a specially engraved crystal football in a presentation to commemorate the award. Coventry won the second F&C Investments Performance of the Week Award of the season in what was a nine-goal thriller. The Sky Blues were 3-0 up through Leon Clarke, Callum Wilson and Billy Daniels only for the Robins to draw level by the 74th minute. But that was in no way the end of the scoring as Wilson restored the hosts lead, and after Marvin Elliott equalised, Daniels secured all three points for Coventry. After the match, Pressley praised his players resolve; "The players deserve much credit. When you're 3-0 up and you're pegged back, it's very easy to go under. "They didn't, they continued to show that spirit and unity that I think is so evident at our club at this time." |
