Err chaps, you are not selling this following the City malarkey to anyone here. Until a few years ago, I lived and breathed it, matchdays were everything, the social, aftermatch celebratory/commiserating, then reading about the other games, attendances, watching the highlights, studying the league tables. I need something to kickstart my love of the game again because these sorry tales are too familiar. I'm not sure I can attend without even just a couple of beers to open up the synapses. I think only some form of success will ignite the passion again now.
C'mon Mowbray, get a decent team in place !

On a nostalgia note.......
I used to get the midland red from Long Lawford to Pool Meadow, then walk up to pig in the middle and munch on a pork, stuffing and apple sauce bap.
Then on to Highfied Rd to take my seat in the west terrace via Nicholls St. A junior ticket used to set me back £3.50 and a program was 60p, I remember watching us beat a lot of the top teams in the top division! Also remember losing to a few shit ones as well!............. Those were the days.

Changes most weeks. Sometimes I drive up in aim of getting in the ground 15 minutes before kick off, others I will leave the house at 11 and do a few pubs in town before the game.

Happy that the station is soon to be complete, will save me a lot of money in taxi fares from town across the whole season!

Into the Craftsman for breakfast at 11:45.
Slow walk down to the casino when finished brekkie, chewing the fat about us possibly winning a game if we go in front.
Few Guinness's in the casino where we get more delusional that JOB might not be a headless chicken and wonder if Barton might win a header this week?
Take our seats at 2:45. Pray that the fella behind us has moved (I bet he hasn't )
90 mins of misery sat between my dad and his mate who both listen to the game they are watching and don't speak a word to me...
30 min walk home dejected.
Kick the cat. Moan at the wife.
Do it all again the following weekend

night before watch old clips of last weeks performance and then maybe a few more if im not that tired, then go to bed. wake up, get ready leave at 12ish to go to cherry tree, or the shoes pub, leave at 3 find our seats 5 mins before kick off, very optomistic, thinking we can win, first 15 mins very promisingly, rest of the match stand and urge the team on, watch us apply maximum pressure, somehow lose concentration, giving the away side first chance on the break, got 2 men over, they score:facepalm:, for the rest of the game get angrier and angrier as more chances not taken, we eventually lose, go to the shoes after, leave an hour later having moaned about it, walk home depressed, and watch the football league show when we are miraculously on last yet again, despair about how we didn't manage to win:thinking about:, and finally fall asleep annoyed about the result, or something along those lines

Saturday:

drive on M1/M6 for an hour. Pick up mate and my son. Watch them drink. Move some scrotes away from our seats at 2.55. Let despair set in. Drop the others off and drive for an hour listening to CWR. Watch the lottery, just in case.

Tuesday:

Drop overnight bags at mates. Go to casino and drink too many Amstel. Move some scrotes from our seats at 7.40. Try to spell despair. Go for half time couple of beers. Stand numbly trying to understand why I do it. Go to casino for a couple more. Taxi to mates. Try to sleep but piss a lot.

heartwarming isn't it!

No matter how shit the week has been, there was always Saturday to look forward to in hope and expectation. Used to watch and listen to all things City at one time, but now I turn up at 2:30 and just hope for a game where we show some fight and passion. The last few seasons have left me a under-whelmed and it seems at times I'm just going through the motions.
Like everyone else, I have high pre-season hopes for this year, I really do hope I can find that earlier spark and enthusiasm again.........
