it’s a snowball effect isn’t it atmosphere. Get a couple of wins together and some great performances, the fans get lively and you get a good atmosphere. More individual songs etc.

That in turn galvanises the players further and the performances keep coming and that gets the atmosphere even better etc etc

So to start with, we need the players to fucking turn up*

We've turned into the clubs we used to take the piss out of.

I remember our fans laughing when Sunderland fans used to blame their team for shite support.

The atmosphere is shite when we are winning too.

It runs a lot deeper than what's on the pitch. We've grown in numbers but it's ruined our atmosphere. The South Stand should be our vocal end but instead it's full of tourists and families. Cardiff took the piss as did every other club this season and our own fans stand back and don't reply.

Not entirely. Blocks 11-17 seems to generate a lot of noise when we are on the up. There have been moments but not the same as last season or the season before. It will get better.

when was the last time we were winning at home? Luton and that was last min before that it was Sheffield Wednesday and that was almost 2 months ago

The team have given us nothing to shout about. Only real time was Oxford and atmosphere that night was great

we’ve probably been winning in 70 mins at home all season. that’s embarrassing

Yeah completely agree. Sadly while people want the fans to kick start the atmosphere, the players have to show desire on the pitch to get people involved.

Hoping millwall will be different next week with some more training in the lads

The atmosphere has got much worse and is now poor, but even if it was alright i’d still want getting rid of the drum. Need organic chant creation, as I say it’s the same songs on and on and for too long

Whenever people create new songs, they get shouted down at.

If someone invented songs like the Gyokeres or O'Hare songs now, they'd be laughed at.

It's just a shame that we have to rely on the team to create an atmosphere.

I thought we were better than that. Clearly not. We've turned into most other clubs that, as the song says sing we we're winning...

It's been like that for a long time. Besides the Leeds and Leicester games, the atmosphere has been in decline in 2024.

It's been toxic all season in block 30, some genuinely depressing people moaning all game about everything even when we're doing well.

Can we round them all up, put them in a corner then bring the Samaritans in to help?

Wouldn’t surprise me if we’ve been winning in 70m all season…

Take out Middlesbrough it’s probably less than 20.

Few things have changed which has affected the noise. Lack of ‘iconic’ players to generate excitement, always going a goal down and away support being too far away. Our tribal, backs against the wall, noone likes us attitude has been eroded from all angles. The team is not ‘one’ and neither are we. Get that feeling back and it will change- we’re the same people aren’t we!

The numbers are there, don’t blame the drummer FFS, the atmosphere is waiting to kick off again. Its the fucking lacklustre shitty performances that are taking all the fun out of it. Conceding early at home, pissing about playing the ball sideways and back constantly, Few decent chances , players reluctant to take a man on. We’re a great 5 a side team……but its not exciting watching.

Problem is the loudest and easier songs to sing were for players who have left.
Our portfolio has now got very small.

Fair play to Frank. He knows what the players need to do to get the crowd up for it.

Frank Lampard gave his seal of approval to Coventry City’s now firmly established pre-match anthem that helped the new head coach feel right at home at the CBS Arena.

The 46-year-old was given a warm welcome by over 25,000 home fans for his first match in charge of the Sky Blues, thoroughly enjoying the atmosphere whipped up by them singing along to ‘We’ll Live And Die In These Towns’ by local band, The Enemy just before kick-off.

“I was really pleased and really thankful for that from the fans,” said Lampard, whose only regret was that his team couldn’t give them a win, having to settle for an opening day 2-2 draw.

“I understand the legacy of the last manager and I am not here to fight that. I am here to say, fantastic, and try to do my job. So thanks very much to the fans before the game which was very rousing, the way they sing before the kick-off was amazing. I loved it, was a great experience, that.

“During the game and afterwards for the players and myself, it was not easy. We want more than draw but they were supportive and that relationship is all about us now. It’s about what momentum we can build and how we can make this place for home games, and that’s why I am disappointed with the bits where I felt we were short, winning the second ball which feels like an old school comment but it reacts the crowd; it engages them, you know, and if we’re playing for a club and a city and this kind of fan base, the first thing they relate to is that kind of action and fight. It’s not that the players are short of it in intentions, it’s just more like ‘are we going to make sure that’s what we become as a football team.’

“But yeah, the fans were great, so thanks for that.”

Asked if he deliberately had a low key response to the stadium announcer’s build-up and introduction to the fans – Lampard just waving in acknowledgment before taking to his seat in the dugout, he said: “Yeah, I’m a low key person, do you know what I mean? I’m here as a head coach, I’m not here as a celebrity.

“I have coached other teams in the Championship and Champions League and things but my enjoyment comes out of trying to make this team better. And I actually shy away from those moments even though people might not think that. I appreciated the reception but I didn’t want to make it about me. It’s not my moment, it was the start of 90 minutes.”

After the final whistle, however, he went round all corners of ground applauding the supporters.

“Yes, because I appreciate the fans and I am here to work hard and do well for the club,” he said. “I have to say that in all my clubs I have worked at I have had good a relationship with the fans and hopefully they can see that I work, and I respect that they come and watch and support us. I’ll be honest and if I felt they (the players) were a bit short today I will say it, and if I feel we are going in the right direction I’ll say it. But just very thankful because I understand the situation and my job is just to work hard and make them enjoy watching their team.”

Find it depressing that in the past two home games we've equalised with time to go and there's zero drive from the home support.

At least roar them on. It's a depressing circle of players and fans not really being arsed.

Compare those past two games to the first season back after COVID. We scored late winners and the fans pushed them until the final whistle. There was urgency and drive.

I agree. There a few things I think you can put it down to.
Poor performances from the players
A Disconnection with players as the ones who dragged us up from the depths have all moved on now.
People going into block 15 and the like to savour the atmosphere but adding nothing to it therefore diluting it.
More people going to be entertained rather than support.

I sat back in 14 a few games ago as a one off and there's clearly a different demographic that sit there. A lot of very young kids who probably aren't old enough to be in the safe standing.

Again, different to 2 years ago when it was the same faces. Some of which had sat/stood there since the late 00s
