Big feature on the Hoff in the financial section of the Sunday Telegraph today - all focused on his day job i.e. setting up a new bank from scratch; NBNK. Only Cov related item is the photo which shows him proudly wearing his City scarf.:p

He walked past me yesterday coming out of the Casino. I can't say as to whether he was or wasn't drunk as I didn't see him drinking but he certainly looked like he'd had a few and could only just hold himself up. He then climbed into his big Lexus and drove off.

I lost a lot of respect for him in that moment.

Isn't it against the law to just see a person get in the car and drive off? Ifhe had an accident aren't you guilty too? THIS IS ONLY A QUESTION because I don't know the law in this country regarding driving.

I'm not sure what the law is but I'm certain I did the wrong thing just watching him drive off. There is something unethical about that, you're right. One of those situations where you'd hope to do the right thing. On this occasion, i didn't. I must confess I'd had a few too, maybe if I was sober I would have reacted differently but I was that appalled I just did nothing.

You learn by these things.

Well this is it. I couldn't tell you if he was for definate. I didn't see him drinking. He appeared to be. Unless he has some sort of disability affecting his balance.

I'm not feeling great about myself at the moment as hindsight is a powerful thing.

Did anyone else see if he was drinking in there?

Nice touch of character assassination ,lets hang the guy ,the only person willing to invest to try and prevent our certain slide to division 3,all based on an observationof someone intoxicated himself ,who did'nt even speak to the guy or see him take one drink, there are laws on slander you know

I'm not sure you could really be convicted of not forcibly preventing someone getting in their car and driving off.

This is silly. I know he has. Lexus. But can't accuse him of stuff we aren't sure about. He was in the casino for not very long I am told. With his elderly parents who are lovely. He talked to a mate and was completely sober and said he had missed lots of the match because he was watching his son play U10 rugby. No bar at school rugby matches I would have thought. Are you sure you hadn't just had a few and couldn't see him stand up straight!

So you lost respect for a man over something he may not have even done? Who says Cov fans are fickle.

OMG.. so we're slaughtering Hoffman now because a pissed person thinks he may have seen him drive whilst under the influence himself? Without having any evidence whatsoever other than what his drunken eyes saw?:laugh::laugh::laugh::claping hands:

That's absolutely fine by me.

I was speculating rather than accusing. Hence why I was trying to make it absolutely clear I had no first hand account of him drinking. It was just the way he came accross. I am not the type to bias my post. In fact I quite like what Hoffman has to say and what he was prepared to offer.

If it came across that way, I apologise. And to be fair, I should know better than to post mere speculation about something so serious and potentially damaging.

It is illegal to drive under the influence as it affects your judgement.
Could it be as you were under the influence your judgement was affected? This I would suggest is the more likely.

Nick - can I suggest you pull this thread before it becomes libellous - accusing someone of breaking the law by drunk driving without any evidence is dangerous ground I would have thought.

I have a new idea...

A WHISK HAT - a hat, than when you are walking, uses the motion to power a whisk, enabling you to prepare for baking a cake, and walk at the same time.

He probably has that inner ear problem that I find often flares up when I am leaving casinos or other such places of ill repute.
