It was suggested he was chosen for the Leeds job as he was prepared to allow the Chairman to make all the decisions. He was in no way even a potential candidate on paper.

Him getting the job at Leeds sent shockwaves around the country due to his unsuitability and the fact it was a bizarre choice to say the least. It was put down as a crazy decision by a crazy owner.

As predicted his tenure at Leeds was a complete failure.

We sack a manager because we are facing a relegation battle. It seems most in here are assuming Hockaday will take over to the end of the season.

If he was employed as our manager without having had the horrendous Leeds episode I believe most people would be outraged and angry.

Now after the Leeds it should not be even the remotest possibility

Or am I missing some reason why the majority think this will be the case

Because he's here and he's cheap? I think you're missing the fact that not many actually think he'd be the right choice.

Because all people seen during Stephens reign was inevitable failure. Many assume we have nothing to lose including myself by the clubs actions today, they were just and fair.

Waggot has said today this:

"So what now? We will not rush a permanent appointment because it’s a decision that requires a fulsome process to try, if possible, to avoid this situation in another two years time. In the meantime, Neil MacFarlane and Dave Hockaday will take temporary charge of team affairs".

Hockaday would need to win games and then he'll probably be considered. To me today has shown that SISU (spit) don't want CCFC relegated and have acted now to make sure it doesn't happen.

In any sane business other than football however, he'd be a candidate who'd have a decent reputation as a coach and had some managerial experience lower down - not dazzlingly successful, but not crushing failure either.

In a 'normal' business that'd give him the qualifications to make him a valid candidate for us.

Rather have Steve Burr mind you

His first season as manager ended with relegation from the Conference Premier
After a disappointing start to the 2013-14 season, and after a run which saw Forest Green suffer seven defeats in eight games, Hockaday left the club by mutual consent on 21 October 2013.[SUP][20
]
[/SUP]Hockaday's first and only league victory was against Middlesbrough at Elland Road

On 28 August 2014, Hockaday and assistant Junior Lewis were sacked by owner Massimo Cellino, having been in the job for only 70 days

I'd say he was a failure at Forest Green - got them relegated in the first season (when they were reinstated) nearly got them relegated the year after.

Mid table

Sacked.

They weren't relegated.

They then improved to 20th, then 10th, then 10th.

Consistent progression and stabilisation.

As I said, not a fabulous track record, but in a normal line of business that progression would say you deserve at least consideration for a role elsewhere.

Hockadays record seems appalling.

christ what do we do next, I feel we need an experienced older head to help us get through relegation free to the summer, then get a proven manager with a promotion on his CV.

Im happy Pressley has gone but who we get in I havent a clue about. If I was Waggott I would at least talk to Warburton, just an enquiry won't do any harm though some Championship club will snap him up I think.

as long as we don't go for Darren Ferguson I'd be happy.

I don't know anything about Hockaday (apart from what I've read on here). What type of football can we expect with him in charge?

The problem with Hockaday is appointing him wouldn't galvanise the supporters which could be a shame lets be honest we know sweet f/a about him. There's one or two unknowns at other clubs doing okay but would our fans take to his appointment, I doubt it.

I think it's the fact people are not saying it would be outrageous if it's Hockaday.

They are just saying it will be Hockaday

People should remember the club reads these forums.

Have a read again yourself, if you were from the club it doesn't sound like people would be that bothered if it was him

It wouldn't be outrageous though. Completely unwanted by myself and probably 90% of fans, but not outrageous because he's the cheap option. The people suggesting he might be ok certainly won't have taken much of an interest in him before.

The club may well read these forums, Don - but do they care what people think or write?

Why are you stating his time at Leeds was a disaster. A cursory glance says 2 wins and 4 defeats.

I think if you're only in a job for 2 months it can't be looked at in any sense a success.

Forest Green are bankrolled by an individual. they have more funds at their disposal than many non league clubs. Not the same situation as us where the owners invest s0d all in the team.

Please explain why he would be a valid candidate.
I could give you 10 reasons why not
Please give me something other than he is cheap. I am sure the current best manager conference premier is also cheap

United: Leeds owner Massimo Cellino welcomes Dave Hockaday to the club
New Leeds United boss Dave Hockaday has insisted he’s the right man for the job - despite surprise at his appointment.

The former Forest Green manager was handed the head coach title at Elland Road, new owner Massimo Cellino’s first managerial pick.

Hockaday had been out of the game eight months since leaving Conference Premier outfit Forest Green after seven defeats in eight games, and replaces Brian McDermott who was ousted in May.

The 52-year-old has a two-year deal to be in charge of team affairs - but not transfers.

He's more qualified that thorn ever was - don't see the problem in giving him a go until the end of this season.

So your gonna risk the future of this club with a very inexperienced manager who didn't even make it at forest green?

Answer me this question. If hockaday wasn't at the club. Would you want him here as first choice?

DH getting the job has AT type "success" written all over it, which is why it will happen. TF or SW have a clue what they're doing and the same goes for SISU otherwise they wouldn't have employed them in the first place.

'Lets go round again' I can hear the song !!
The only positive here I suspect is that at least SISU have acted to try and stem the possibility of relegation, something I wasn't sure they were too concerned about !?
In all fairness 'Results' haven't been that ridiculously bad of late although obviously performances would suggest we have been pretty poor. Not sure the new loanees were here long enough to save Pressley, although they might prove effective over the next couple of months and have shown optimistic signs.
Hockaday...........he's cheap, on site, familiar...........hope he's got a magic wand !

We are a club on life support and lurch from one week to the next without any real direction, be nice to have someone set a proper course in the good ship 'Sky Blue ' !

I maybe going crazy but we should bring back Bobby Gould temporarily. He said a while back he would work for free if it helped the club.

As a scout maybe. As manager...

Soft spot for Bobby, and he certainly cares but... his time has long gone!

Joking aside, it might need someone like this to boost fan morale as Hockers isnt really going to bring people back to the ground.

This is how I feel too but probably SISU might not want a manager who will really show passion for our club.
