I think some people delight in writing players off. Hiwula needs to be more involved in games and has certainly missed some gilt edged chances lately. If there were others available, there is a case to be made for him being left out. To label him as “shite” or “garbage” as he has been described I think says more about the mentality of the poster than it does about the player.
Another “shite” player, Bakayoko, I thought had another poor game on Wednesday. However, his finishing for the goal was excellent. The height and trajectory of the ball made that a really difficult chance, yet the finish was top drawer. I didn’t realise until I saw the replay that it was also Baka who got his head to the cross and played it onto McCallum. I don’t think Baka is the answer (although I do still have hopes for Hiwula) but to write off players and describe them as “dog shit” as some on here have done is moronic.

Just watched again. It was in fact O’Hare who headed on the cross! Still a good finish from Baka!

He’s got 4 this year. Arguing he’s playing poorly is a different debate, most are saying he’s shite which as we know clearly isn’t true

Well, he is shite this season.

Hope he turns that around because obviously there is a player there, we've seen it.

I like Jordy but he misses a lot of chances, he should be a 20 goal a season man with the amount of chances and positions he finds himself in.

I have always felt he should be playing down the middle.

Not really. People are more emotional when explaining negativity/poor performances in Coventry players because it is a huge gap to our expectations. Fans hold our club ina really high regard and have hold our players to high standards. When they don’t meet them standards people get frustrated and passionate.
Naturally when players meet those high standards (so perform well), people are less vocal about this as they are simply content.

This is more the case for older fans I feel who are used to our club at higher levels.

This is very different to being happy when players are shit...

Couldn't disagree more. I could be classed as one of our older fans and have a treasure trove of memories from Div 1/Premier, but we're not there any more. Doing well in whatever league we're in suits me fine.

I think this is one of the weirdest viewpoints I've seen in a while. What nonsense saying people delight in writing people off.

Mentality of the poster? What? Hiwula has so far this season played very poorly. People may be more passionate about expressing this because often those two inside forward positions were the missing pieces of the puzzle, and arguably the one thing that was between us and an being top of the league was his and one or two other's incompetence.
Aside from his woeful finishing, he offered very little when tracking back/defending, and often let his head drop and didn't chase things down when he/we lost the ball..couple of of times just walking back. His touch has also been abysmal.

Cherry on top with the penalty miss. Surely surely you just put your laces through it when you're taking a pen low on confidence and need a goal.

Odd.

I disagree completely. You only have to look at the responses of certain people on here who can't wait to put the boot in on players that they don't like. Hiwula is the latest in a long and continuing line of players who some posters like to write off. As regards justifying comments such as "he is dog shit" as the response of a frustrated but passionate fan, I think that this is quite an odd comment. The fact that most of these responses come after a match, not in the heat of a game, and that the writer has to compose their thoughts as they type, gives a lie to the notion that the poster is at an emotional height.
To describe any human as dog shit is pretty extreme. To describe someone who has proved himself at a number of clubs as dog shit is plainly wrong. This is also a guy who did reasonably well for us last season. Last season he was okay but now he is dog shit? If you think someone isn't performing explain why (to be fair, as you did above), but don't just hurl lazy and insulting comments at players who are wearing sky blue and in who in most cases work their socks off.

I personally would play Baka and Hiwula in a front two with Biamou as back up for half time/30 minutes.

Ironically I think Peterborough could destroy us with this formation there is an argument to play our regularly negative 4-3-3 of mots of the season.
I'm so conflicted but hope we go for it with two up front later today.

Sure I'll revisit this and regret above statements but I hope not!

Frankly I find the idea we don’t have sections of the fans that positively delight in going on and on and on about how X player is “garbage” and “dog shite” and “not good enough to be a pro footballer” the most bizarre idea.

Do you read this forum? Or the FB page? The absolute delight at slating Baka or Jordy and the level of viciousness is stunning at times. All sports fans do it but I do believe Coventrians have a particularly negative attitude about anything to do with Coventry that adds an extra level of bile in our case.

I’ve told the story before but watching the glee on some fat fuckers face as he wobbled down to take a picture of Jacob Murphy while shouting “just taking a photo of the worst player ever to wear sky blue” will stick with me forever. Never felt more embarrassed to be a city fan.

That doesn’t mean everyone, but there’s a very very vocal minority who’s main enjoyment seems to come from loudly exclaiming that certain players are shit. Some of them very notable posters on here.

Why are you making it so personal? I have no idea what his human qualities are and not do u particularly care (to an extent of course).

Which was one of my reasons for criticizing him. Not sure if this is about hiwula or..?

Can’t work out if you’re deliberated twisting what I’m saying or just read a different post. I said more passionate...I didn’t say they are always at am “emotional height” or not in control of their feelings. Can passion not be displayed after a game?

I do not read the Facebook page. To be fair I interpreted the comment I originally posted on as being about this forum. I would also concede that there are some weirdos in the world and to say there is not one single fan who is just odd and likes slagging people off isn’t right. But definitely a tiny minority. I’ve not seen any posters on here who are like that.

I also think that a lot of the criticism that has been thrown about on here recently is justified, and it pisses me off when a good result comes along and people jump out and somehow think that invalidates that criticism. (The sane works the other way)

Murphy was shit though m8.

Insanely overrated by some. Probably overly criticised by others as compensation (including me).

Pacey, goal scoring wingers with little technical ability. When they don’t score, they tend to be anonymous. I was the same with Hiwula this time last year in fairness.
