Interesting piece by Andy Turner in the CET (http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/co...ng-farewell-mark-whatshisname-92746-32808095/) in which he says:

"Not even possessing a company car at City, Robins is understood to have been on an extremely modest wage which, no doubt, Huddersfield will treble or quadruple at the John Smith’s Stadium."

Now maybe I'm adding 2 & 2 together and getting 5, but think also about the confusion over the five-figure/six-figure sum that could spring Robins from his contract. I'm not sure anyone has definitively said it was a release clause. If Robins was on a 3-year contract paying, say, £37,000 a year, it would take £111,000 to buy that contract out. But Robins, of course, has worked five months of that, so that six-figure sum would drop to about £95,500 - a five-figure sum.

It's all guess work of course, but if we were to pay our managers such a salary - one which would surely be less than many of the first team players get - then we might have to resign ourselves to the thought that future managers we get may be either a) not very good, or b) going to be easy pickings for other clubs if they are doing well.

To be clear Pete, Turner provided the bit in quote marks. I plucked the figures. I sense you disagree with my guess work?!

I believe you. What Andy Turner wrote just got me thinking about the "five-figure" sum and whether it might not be a get out clause but just the sum needed to buy out the whole contract. I don't know the sums involved - I said it was a guess - but I feel fairly confident in predicting that, as things stand, Sisu will not be splashing huge sums of money about. As such, I'm not sure the gist of my argument - that we may get poor manager or risk seeing a good one quickly poached - has been disproved yet.

Funny ain't it? Turner gets slagged off week after week but if he says anything that might fit certain views of certain owners then it's bang on the money. Robins wouldn't get out of bed for £37K. Laughable.

I don't think I have ever slagged off Andy Turner. He may or may not be on the money this time but I suspect he might know a bit more than most of us. Like I have said the figures were a simple guess based on the five-figure/six-figure confusion. And as I said in the OP I might well be completely mistaken in reading anything into it.
Oh, and did I slag our owners off in the OP? No, I just said we might have to get used to it.
