Highfield Road in the 70's and before, when we had all the terracing................the Ricoh since. The Ricoh is superb and you will get that feeling I hope on Feb 5th when we have a proper crowd and atmosphere. people forget HR was a dead hole with 9,000 in attendance.

Highfield Road is dead, buried, gone. No point living in the past and yearning.
Over the next few years, less and less will remember it and to the youngsters it's all about the Ricoh.
The crowds are different, attitudes are changing and things have moved on. You create your own atmosphere.

What a shame we can't convert the telegraph into a safe standing area, that would be great IMO .

Couldn't agree more, there were very little complaints when we originally left and moved to the Ricoh. A lot of people are sentimental over HR and remember it as something that it (sadly) never was in its last 10-15 years.

If you offered me HR at its worst or The Ricoh, I'd still take HR.

Highfield Road

Easy to get to and a proper football ground

Remember someone disapearing through the plastic covers on the main stand after one pitch invasion think he ended up near the dressing rooms below

my sister slept in a tent up for the night in the centre circle around 1970.She was on a sponsored walk with Bulkington Church and they asked the club if they could stopped over night,Eddie Plumbley said sleep on the pitch with your tents if you want. She was over the moon.

When I looked into the eyes of the hallowed ground(HR) I saw George Best, Bobby Charlton, Dennis Law, Bill Glazier, George Curtis, George Hudson....I think you get what I mean. HR was a ground with a soul, and memories.
Ricoh is a beautiful stadium, but has no heart or soul. There will never be another ground for me...There is/was only one HR.

I wonder if 110 years ago city fans were harping on about how great the old Stoke Row ground was & how the new Highfield Rd ground has no soul?

Highfiield Road every time, but that gone and we have to move forward, in 5/6 years people will think differently especially younger fans who ever went to HR.
The station and what division we are in will make a big difference.

I live much closer to the Ricoh than i did to Highfield Road. I live in Longford which is right ont he outskirts of the city. My dad was working all the time so he couldnt take me to many games at HR, and as i was 9 when it was demolished, it was very hard for me to get there, so i only ever went to 3 games there, but the atmosphere is something i will never forget. It blitzes the Ricoh on atmosphere. I always look on google images for pics of HR cus i miss it that much. Its a crime that such a beautiful piece of football history was destroyed so they could build houses on the land
