If they need space they can invest. That’s what Jaguar Land Rover have done and they are a business like Sisu.

Yes, all well and good but they aren't JLR are they? They can't give free tickets to council ceo's just as they have planning in

Hang on, a minute a go you and Nick liked a post from Grendel suggestion this is all about forcing a change of ownership.
If it's not Wasps then who.
I would still approach Wasps if I was SISU and offer the golden share in exchange for a share in business as a silent partner.

And why would Wasps do that? Hand over something making losses, in return for a share of those losses.

This is just bringing the Sisu endgame closer all the time. They have tried to manipulate and bully people all along and have ultimately been outmanoeuvred by the other parties. The others are enjoying their moment, and in a way who can blame them!

The arguments about who has been right or wrong at this point are irrelevant now. They have fallen out with too many important people and find themselves with nowhere to go. All this has done untold damage to the club, going back through the rent strike, Sixfields, administration, judicial reviews and so on. How can you run a successful club with all that going on?

I said on another thread this week that I genuinely fear for the future of the club, so the sooner all this posturing is concluded the better. I almost don't care who any new owners would be, they couldn't be worse than the current ones, and they would start with a clean slate with the other parties.

Plays into Wasps hands as club is further devalued.

Big bad hedgefund sisu who 'batter people in court' have been blackballed by a charity and council.

Fucking hilarious if it wasn't for the football clubs future being at stake.

Game set and match, sisu are out of options and will now be looking for an escape route. Problem is Sepalla would liquidate the club out of spite to save face.

End game is nigh

Yes, the club being ruined is nigh. Meanwhile fans can be happy that SISU have been done over, but our club is ruined.

Very strange.

Not strange - in any other scenario a charity getting one over a bullying business would be celebrated.

Gutted for the club but karma for sisu.

Interested to know how you see us getting out of the situation we're in with sisu in charge. Their behaviour has caused all this regardless of what you think of CCC.

Change of ownership is only hope of building relationships in the city.

So what happens with a change of ownership? We are then renting from Wasps, probably no academy either. The main question is who buys us now?

Ah, the innocent charity. That's not been heard for a while has it? Have to watch what is said on here, they are all lawyers you know Wouldn't like them angry, the innocent charity and all.

Absolutely - but not convinced that renting the Ricoh at a 'reasonable' rate is a problem.

Nothing to stop the club buying land for a new training ground, academy and community use at a site away from the Higgs. If they're clever they could even build conference and office facilities for all year round income.

New owners could deal with local stakeholders with a clean slate. We need to be both forward thinking and practical. No quick fixes but with long term sustainability at its core.

Said it before but Broadstreet RFC aren't going in with Wasps now (not long term anyhow) they seem to have more room than they need and on google maps at least it's bigger than Ryton. Why not swap with money going their way and combine first team and academy on the Broadstreet site?

Silly me. That would require investment. Scrub that. Never going to happen with SISU at the helm.

You say that though, but didn't they put 600 odd k in to the academy? The academy seems one of the main things that actually does seem to get investment in.

Coventry City FC are disappointed to learn of the actions of the Alan Higgs Trust, in a recent Coventry Telegraph story.

The club was not aware that a clause which would block Coventry City FC from long-term residency past 2017 at the Alan Higgs Centre existed - a clause which puts the Academy's future under threat.

As previously stated, the club have been residents at the Alan Higgs Centre for a number of years where we have paid high-value rent to produce football players from the Coventry and Warwickshire area.

As is well known, we have repeatedly attempted to engage with Coventry Sports Foundation over a long-term deal at the Alan Higgs Centre, and this clause was never made known to us.

In fact, Coventry Sports Foundation publicly stated on May 19th, 2016 that 'the door is still open' for the club at the centre. Similarly, Wasps said only yesterday that they are 'willing to have talks about keeping both football and rugby at the Higgs Centre site.'

In light of recent developments, it is obvious that the door was never open to a long-term agreement and keeping both football and rugby at the centre was not a sincere offer. Both statements appear to have been designed to mislead the public about the true plans that have been made for the Higgs Centre for some time. We can only question why this clause was kept from the club when it appears that everyone else involved has known about it. If there had been more transparency, it would have given the Coventry City a better position to plan for a potential departure from the Alan Higgs Centre but once again, the club feel deliberately misled.

Whilst there is hostility towards the club's owners from the Trust, it is deeply regrettable that they feel the need to take it out on the football club's youth and put the Academy's future under threat.

They didn't invest in the infrastructure. If they did we wouldn't be be getting kicked out right now. They have invested but how much over how long? To build an academy would take a big one off single payment for the infrastructure and this time there is no charity willing to make that investment on behalf of the club. I'd love them to prove me wrong but pinning your hopes on that will most likely lead to disappointment so you'll pardon me if I don't climb on that bus with you just yet.

Well it is entirely within the control of Higgs to extend or renew the lease for the Academy and tell Wasps to fuck off and "invest" (JLR-style) else-fucking-where. WHY have they not done that?
I'm sure CCFC could find £400K to pay Higgs' blood money. What if the Trust were to organize a fund-raising for that money from the fans to save the academy. Here's my £20!

I don't think they would voluntarily pay 400000 when they went to Court about a peanuts 29000. also I would guess that CA was aware of the clause before he offered to move from Ryton. "Light the blue touch paper and stand well back" springs to mind.
