Have I missed something?

Just a question to the people saying this is not SISU's fault and trying to blame CCC, Wasps and now CFS and Higgs CHARITY - Why would CCFC need to move thier training base??

Because SISU SOLD Ryton off!! Not the Council, not Wasps, not The Alan Higgs CHARITY, but SISU. Now tell me this isn't their fault!!!!!

How are they exposed? They pay rent to Wasps / ACL. They're at the mercy of a rent increase yes.

They have no contractual relationship with the AHT.

They are a ratepayer to CCC but do not have any sort of contractual relationship with them.

How, knowing the above, could SISU be forced out? Remember who CCFC / Otium's main / only creditor is.

How are they exposed? answer is simple they then sit around a table with nothing that the other parties need? Wasps can say we want talks but they don't need talks they are full steam ahead. What other card do sisu have to play, the bluff has been called in my opinion, options a few and this could be the last few rounds of the fight. Sisu have to make a decision Build, Sell or collapse the companies attached to the club and if i know this like most have admitted on here no matter of side they pick, then they are truly exposed because they have no bargaining chip around any table.

To be fair I think it it is true now I have read the article
I think they can rent short term as they are doing now and keep extending it.
They can rent up to 6 years was it?
Or the Higgs charity can give permission
I was only able to have quick read so I may have some of that wrong
It does say any term over 7 years. The problems as I see it is no one wants to let our owners have any long length of tenure as they cant be trusted, If your Wasps you already know that their was a rent strike and after what was done to the charity you can hardly expect them to get back into bed with them when it cost them 29K last time. Sisu wont let go of the JR as they see it as a way of making money for their investors and CCFC is the vehicle to do it with, even if they loose the club can be saddled with the cost of the JR and closed down and liquidated. It needs either a total rethink by our owners in how to move the club out of the current cycle, or they put up or shut up. Problem is they have either been or have painted themselves into a corner, to get out they don't have the financial clout and if they change their business approach I cant see Joy wanting to eat humble pie. Leaves them staring into the corner with the dunces hat on with no answers. To sum us up at the minute we are the sporting equivalent of British Homestores.

Sisu have done to much damage for anybody to forgive them. CCFC fans only suffer them because of the team.

Everybody is taking revenge and CCFC and us fans are collateral damage.

Yes - but how do any of these facts lead to a 'connected company' picking up what's left of CCFC (i.e. the golden share)? It doesn't.

I didn't realise that sort of revenge is ok now? It must be.

Imagine if we were owned by Hoffman and Elliott now, what would the reaction be if this was happening?

I m honest enough to say i don't know this as fact. What i do know is this is not by accident, press releases are not by luck, so all of this is planned and coordinated which would make me believe someone is or has been lined up for the next phase of the Wasps CCC plan.

Remember before the last bit of news filtered out most were saying no buisiness connestion between Higgs, Wasps and CCC? so asking for appeals to be dropped does no effect other talks, really.

Maybe, I think the reality is probably more that it's just Wasps acting in their own interests to be honest, and some of their objectives and those of CCFC are mutually exclusive. The council has shown that it doesn't care about CCFC, it has got a new friend now in Wasps and is staking its own reputation on Wasps' success (hence the City of Rugby drivel). The AHT has never really been interested in the club, in my opinion its only interest was ensuring that investment into CCFC or the stadium project by Higgs as a director was never lost.

In a past life I used to carryout negoiations with workers and unions, the last thing you do before any meeting is get up the noses of those you wish to talk to.
SISU have done that in spades, they put all their eggs in one basket to achieve a purchase of the stadium at a knowdown price, it failed.
Now we are getting the fallout, I really cannot see where they go now, unless they are prepared to build a new stadium in Warwickshie, I don't think they have upset that county council, yet!

I can see this also, i think all other parties have an agenda, im just thinking it is connected for a mutual business gain at the end. Anything is possible with this club to be honest, its been a roller coaster for many years, i m ready to get off and just hope that we have one day a clear goal on and off the field.

Right so we can rent at the Higgs for up to 7 years.

So let's call everybody out and put a statement out that we would like negotiations to resume in the case of Ricoh and begin in terms on the Academy.
If a settlement can be agreed in both areas the legal action will be dropped.
Also like PWKH said if the sight needs to be adapted we will contribute to those costs as well.
As a compromise.

That is unless of course we havent been lying all throughout this and we do have the means and intention to build our own 18k capacity stadium (with the potential to rise to 30k my opinion) and our own purpose built academy and training facility.
Let's not forget right up to 2 weeks ago we have still been maintaining we have this as an option

You really are a piece of work. If you genuinely believe this is about dropping legal action you are deranged.

This is another bonkers attempt to force ownership change.

Either that or move another football team into the City.

It certainly isn't about dropping legal actions.

Get your head out of pwkh's backside.

What would you do next Grendel if you were SISU?

If it was me I would give TM a top 2 budget and do everything in my power to get promotion this season.
As promotion looked certain and with 17-20k crowds at the Ricoh.
I would approach the hedge fund behind Wasps and offer them the club as my investment into a joint Wasps CCFC venture.
I would agree to be a silent partner and sit back and hope they can eventually achieve promotion to the premiership
Then I would recoup my loses.
What would you do?

Why would wasps go for that when they could just drive the club into the ground with the help of everybody else.

I said a while ago that while we are at the mercy of the council, higgs, wasps etc we won't go anywhere. I got shouted down I think because sisu own us and nobody else anything on the club.

It angers me sometimes when people get confused with the charity and soft touch. Higgs are a registered charity and SISU have been abusing their relationship at every turn. They have failed to pay rent when it was due and taken them to court, wouldn't you be pished off with them if they did that to you?
I actually rejoice at this move because it is SISU that have let the city and club down.

A couple of points on your post Asiaskyblues:

* One of the biggest issues I have with SISU is their due dilligence before they took over. The rent payable should've been negotiated at that time...not the way they did it. I agree with you there.
* But you do realise that it was AEHC that took us to court first right? They lost. We then counter-claimed (and lost).
* Anyone who rejoices at a move which seriously threatens the very existence of our club going forward, needs to take a long hard look at themselves in the mirror.

This piece from his missus, Marilyn back in 2014.

What do you think the future holds for CCFC?

It’s heart-breaking. I really don’t know what the future holds for our club. For me, and for many others, it is no longer the club – its traditions, its history, the unity of its supporters and its corporate memory.

I think people are starting to realise that the owner is not “the club”, and anyway we don’t even know who the ultimate owners are.

It is now thought of as a ‘sporting franchise’ and it appears that it is seen only as a collection of trademarks and the right to play in the Football League.

My fear is that if the ‘franchise’ doesn’t make a sufficient return for its owners they will just ditch it. There is nothing the charity, the council or anyone else can do - it is up to the investors in the ‘franchise’ as owners.

In evidence before the court Sisu’s witness statement gave the history of the club as: “Coventry City Football Club was founded in 1907. Until 2005 the football club played at its former stadium Highfield Road, located at King Richmond Street”.

It appears that history only matters to the club’s supporters.

Last bit is very true. It doesn't matter to SISU, Higgs, ACL, CSF, CCC, CT...

The rent at the time was non-negotiable due to the position CCC had put ACL in. If the council were proactively managing ACL, why didn't they bail them out of the YB loan earlier to protect their position? It didn't need to be as a result of a rent strike, it should have been an action they considered to improve ACL's prospects.
