I remember Alan Green playing out there. Not sure if that was just an end of career thing or a reciprocal arrangement with CCFC.

Garry Bannister, Mark Hately, Mick Coop, Don Nardiello Jim Hagen and Jim Holton all went there in 1980.

We ended up with Dave Bradford

Blimey. Don't remember any of that lot going out there.

I remember David Bradford and Steve Hunt, who had done well in the States.

Interesting further reading, Jimmy Hill and the Saudis:

Jimmy Hill a football and media revolutionary hidden by those glasses | Barney Ronay

Barney Ronay: The former Fulham player, Coventry manager then chairman, linesman, impresario, pundit, TV magnate and outright mainstream celebrity remains one of a kind at 85 years of age

Jimmy Hill and Detroit Express:

Four decades later, Detroit Express chugs along in professional soccer lore

They had cheerleaders, a catchy theme song, international flair and razzmatazz in an era when soccer and disco balls went hand in hand.

Great Articles, noticed in the Trevor Francis photo in the 2nd article, the opposition were playing in an Admiral egg-timer kit.

Doing a bit of research [Google]. Turns out that's Vancouver Whitecaps. Quite a few of the American teams had Admiral kits. Some of them look great.

That's an interesting figure quoted for MSL membership in the second article, an 800 fold increase in around 40-45 years!
