Sounds like he's get a bit shirty by it all as well now.

I would suggest that he wouldnt be getting this pressure for answers if he didnt mention December 23rd was the day news would be given !

there are messages of hope - ie "Hoffman busy working on a bid, it could be sometime though"

OR

13th Dec - "Next 10 days, there should be some news"

so, instead of hope, there is "whats going to happen on 23rd Dec"
