I think it is a great idea for Bradley to lead us out.

No reason why there cannot be 10 other less fortunate children lead us out too. Whatever club they support.

On CWR this morning local lad in birminghams children's hospital has cancer waiting for a bone marrow doner. How many other kids from Coventry are in a similar situation.

For me I don't care that he supports Sunderland but he obviously loves football.
Yes it would be good to offer the opportunity to any City young supporters in a similar situation (but I pray that there aren't any to be honest)
Anything that can go towards raising the profile against childhood cancers is a postive.
And also it should be a recognition of the work his family and their supporters have done in raising over 700k for his treatment. A remarkable achievement.

Have to agree. I think everybody here has deep sympathy and condolences for Bradley but this day is about Coventry City and if we have a young fan going through a similar experience then they should be given the opportunity instead.

Yep. Doesn't need to be a monopoly. Can be two or three kids.

Which team he supports is irrelevant, he is a young kid (could be your grand kids one day - pray not) - if there are 50 of them out there in a similar situation, who want to walk out on the pitch, let them. From our message boards we have a few people going through tough times - can't believe many of them would begrudge a youngster going through this a little bit of sunshine in their life.

Now that I agree with, I remember a diy sos programme with a a little lad I think was an Ipswich fan where the goalkeeper turned up and gave the lad his gloves. The poor little lad was in tears, that meant more to him than anything. Give a few kids a chance to have a little bit of joy and make them feel a little better if only for a short time.

Few responses on the Sunderland forum regarding this.

'Tell them to fuck off Bradley!
Nope....just cant get past it.'

'Brad could lead them out with a Sunderland top on with Fuck u cheating bastards on the back. And come on whoever they may play underneath! Also turn up 15minutes after kick off time and say oh what terrible traffic'

'Bradley could turn up late and delay the kick off'

Albeit a few...Funny how a nice gesture from ourselves turns into an issue about JH.

Shame really that some people dont realise this is more important than football or history or who did what to who, its about making a day out for Bradley that he would never forget and hopefully enjoy.

How about an initiative of inviting one kid from every league club to attend the game. Would highlight the plight of these children and show the wider world that football in England is not just about money.

Its shameful that some people see football rivalries and hatred above real life. Those comments says a lot about the people who wrote them.

As long as the lad actually wants it and it's not our fans jumping on his bandwagon I'm all for it. Obviously any City kids should be sought out and offered the same chance.

I doubt he even knows who Coventry City are...

Also, I am not sure how many actual mascot places there are?

I'm sure the comments were in jest but for something that happened 40 years ago, to still hold a grudge about JH and the fact this has nothing to do with that says a lot

I love the sentiment, but like others have said maybe the club should seeing if local Coventry kids in a similar situation could be mascots for the day, would probably mean a lot more to them and their families being local and supporters of the club.

rules should be thrown at the window and we should be able to have 100 mascots if we want. these are dying kids, give them ALL great memories of their short time on this planet.

OK, when i was a kid I got beaten up by Villa thugs during a game in 76/77. As a good will gesture Villa offered me a couple of tickets for their next home game! I didn't take up the offer. Sky Blue for me.

Whilst it is a fantastic gesture I think the kid's parents may respectfully decline. May be wrong of course. There is a photo of him in the papers today falling asleep in Jermaine Defoe's arms.

The comments from some of the Sunderland fans are uncalled for and I'm sure the lad's parents don't want to sully the good things Sunderland are doing for the lad. Accepting any offer like the above could complicate matters.

All the best to him. Maybe the best thing would be for the fans have a single local child who is going through it.

Actually unbelievable, it would make many young lads/girls dreams come true to do something like this in a life which could be very limited even if its not their team. You're against that?

In this instance yes. Are you suggesting its a dream for him to lead out Coventry? I am against the idea that he could be leading out our team in place of actual fans of the team who it really is a dream for. Clearly he has been afforded several good memories already which im pleased for. This just feels like jumping on a bandwagon.

Surely Joy and Tim will be leading us out :woot:

Is there even a mascot at cup finals and if there is are we talking one per player or one per team?

I read on City official twitter there was 1 space available and had already been filled after a request from a guy for his kid to be it.

hes not saying that.

as nick said there is a probably a terminally ill footy mad kid in coventry as we speak, he or she should be leading cov out no?

why are we apparently after a kid who supports sunderland? because hes been on motd and wn goal of the month and touched our hearts thats why.

im all for making him happy, i want all kids to be happy. but sunderland are making him happy. maybe ccfc should make sure there is another child out there getting experiences like bradley has had so far?

my 100 child mascot is still be solution. get bradley and other kids ALL on pitch!

To be fair, most on the Sunderland forum have said they would end all hatred for us if this happened.

Based on what I have seen on the Sheffield United forum and their hatred for us, maybe we should do the same for them...

Try this guy! He sorts out all the mascots at the ricoh for league and cup matches.
If anybody can help sure he can, or at least tell you who can!

I wouldn't begrudge Tim and Joy leading us out, as long as they contract a terminal illness for the occasion.

I have no issue (or much of a view on this one for that matter). It would have been nice for a Coventry fan to lead city out in my opinion but maybe the young lad can stop the Makams hating us for that sad pointless reason!
Albeit given their responses I doubt it!
