Where I have I said about him coming back as a manager?

Your original post suggested he was better than Robins as he tried his best and got sacked, whereas Robins left on his own accord.

Really struggling to see how that works.

I feel the he is a good scout argument is undermined now by the dross he brought in when he was manager.

And the dross be bought in as a scout. None were decent until we got relegated.

Biggest laugh in one interview was bragging one of his best spots was David Bell

Don't plans need an objective?

Aron Gunnarsson
Kieren Westwood

Wasn't Gunnarsson on a recommendation from somebody else?

Westwood was in the team of the year for Carlisle?

He's hardly gone to the remote regions in Africa and spotted a young lad playing in the street.

I think he's credited with finding Gunnarsson, perhaps not Westwood.

Carl Baker did alright sometimes. He was signed whilst Thorn was lead scout.

Then there was Beuzelin...

I'm sure somebody else recommended him, Icelandic player I think.

Edit:

The largely unknown defensive midfielder was recommended to Coleman by fellow countryman and Bolton striker Heidar Helguson.

Think he was stand out for Carlisle with other clubs after him, so wasn't really a hidden find.

Yes, quite possibly.
Didn't Waggot start to have influence when Thorn became manager?
When we started to have influxes of around 15 players per summer. O

Third time in four years we're building a scouting network by my count.

I don't think the head of recruitment is the same as a chief scout. I think the job is more about setting the parameters that scouts and the manager are working under, developing the internal process for seeking approval from the board to sign a player.

We might be totally wrong about the role of Head of Recruitment. It could be to find some builders, plumbers, electricians, etc for our new ground, which has been promised for years?

The thing is, City don't have a scouting or recruiting system - at all. There are no people going out and looking for players and creating a database of talent and reports.

Everyone we have signed in the past few years has been either the manager going to a club and inquiring about who's available, personal contacts with other teams, word of mouth or agents offering their players.

That's how we ended up with Dan Agyei and Andre bloody Wright - two players that Mowbray/Venus had probably never seen before.

Have I Imagined it or Is Ray Gooding back with us now?
The fifth summer in a row where we will have a mass clearout then recruit circa 15 players. :|

There was actually a clause in Fleck's contract whereby if we offered an extra 10% in wages he would have had to sign on for another year. Mowbray wanted to do it but was told there was no money.

He definitely came back to the club as a scout at start of last season, don't know if he's still here or not.

Mowbray brought him in as a scout, I remember that. But going by what Robbins said you can only assume he isn't here anymore.

So we have to name players that came here when Thorn was here but if the player was decent we try to find a reason why the player doesn't count

Or we try to see how they actually came here and how "unearthed" they were.
