Because he was worth more. And he is now but you try to say that he isn't.

I think that you are overestimating his ability. He will be lucky to score 10 goals this season. I agree with the comments elsewhere, he is too good for the Championship but not good enough for the Premiership

The two financial years prior to selling Wilson we lost £7m and £8m, even if it had been Elliot and Robinson in charge they would have sold for £3m. We needed the money.

They could have held out for more. They could have done what teams like Southampton do and put a big price on his head. But they couldn't resist 3m.

How do you know they didn't hold out for more to get that?

I didn't know they did, hence I didn't say they did. Like you said they didn't, so I asked how do you know as you made the statement?

Southampton has a billionaire backer. Also they to my knowledge didn't sell anyone in league one for £3 million

ImHO they didn't hold out for more than 3m. It happened too quickly. 3 clubs bid. Highest bid got him.

They were in the championship

They did sell Oxlade for about 15 million just after they were promoted from league 1, so technically he was a championship player but he was sold before the new season started.

Off the top of my head they sold Oxlade Chamberlain for something like 15m when in league one.

Walcott and Oxlade went to a champions league club. Wilson is nowhere near as good or as much potential for a top 4 club,

Grendel and his sidekicks said that 3m was good as he had never played above league 1. Neither had Oxlade Chamberlain.

Can I be like David Dickinson here in Bargain Hunt and but in to this debate. Wilson at that time was given all factors worth the 3 mill , could city have held out for more ..... I don't think they could , it turns out he may be worth more now but no one could say for sure.

They had already been promoted to the championship and that was the best bid.

The best bid in a league one season wasn't £3 million. The best league one transfer I recall is the Huddersfield striker sold for £8 million?

No premier club were interested and I repeat we accepted the highest bid which was necessary to secure the club could continue after successive disastrous financial losses.

If he is worth more we get more. Sadly astute and his ilk lack the intelligence of Barnsley fans who are very excited that they sold their best player for £3 million

The Accounts say we received £2.1m in transfer fees, this would also include Christie. The deal may go up to £3m depending on future clauses, but I'd suggest the original sale was £2m at the most.

I'd at least put him on par with Walcott. A similar style of player but Wilson is stronger. How many league goals had Walcott scored by the time he was Wilson's age? I have a feeling Wilson has scored more and I'm willing to bet that by the time he reaches Walcott's age he'll score more in the premier league than Walcott is currently on.

So they got £15M for him of the back of league one performances then if I understand that correctly. Again makes Wilson look cheap.

Are you sure they are all happy and excited at losing one of their best players link please?.
Are they going to get al the money for new players or is it just to line the owners pocket?

Well if that makes them more intellectual I am glad that I am stupid.

We are where we are because of constantly selling any asset we have had, and then not replacing it.

No as no one in the premiership made a bid. So he was sold for what he was worth.

If he was as good as Walcott or Chamberlain he'd be subject to £20 million plus bids this summer gone. He wasn't so he's not worth it.

Financial losses caused by the idiotic move to Northampton. Still it saved SISU's investors £3M to cover the losses so I guess that's why you consider it a good deal.

We lost £8 million in our last season at the Ricoh. In the season sisu took over we lost far more and were on the brink of bankruptcy.

I would be surprised if no one is looking at him either last season or this. The big difference between us and Bournemouth being of course is that Bournemouth don't have the smell of a club who's owners would sell the crown jewels at the whiff of money.

All bids we received for Wilson IMO were an insult to he's then potential, potential he lived up to last season and now show's signs of surpassing. £3M may well have been the highest bid but it doesn't mean we got what he was worth, because we clearly didn't.

What's that got to do with the losses incurred from the idiotic move to Northampton? Weren't we told that SISU's investors would cover the Sixfields losses? Presumably they meant after the family jewels have been sold off.

We need all the money we can get not arguing with that.

So why have we sold the rights to the merchandising?
Surely we would make more money selling it ourselves?
