He was given a budget by SISU and has managed to keep within that budget, and is still managing to do so. Whatever SISU might lead us to believe otherwise, I am pretty convinced this budget allowed for players like Keogh to leave and for Cranie not to sign a new contract. Only Bigi's transfer was not included, but most of this went on upgrading the Academy.

I'm amazed how much he has got with such few resources! I didn't see us signing one or two players let alone 8+ depending on what happens with our trialists!

Yes well done. He's kept within a budget that he wasn't allowed to exceed. He is the manager that' has taken us to a level of football we have not witnessed for 50 years. He has the worst management record of any football manager of this club since 1917.
He has the worst win ratio of any manager in Division 1.
Yes hat's off to Andy thorn. If you are a Leicester fan you are doing really well.

What budget? He's just brought in players on frees and used outgoing players wages to pay for them.

Some would say he delayed us hitting that worst level for 50 years, when he stepped in whilst the previous manger was leading us there. With the same crop of players he fixed the rot.

Then his squad was disseminated by our esteemed owners. Here we are ........

Naah, you're right: let's just dwell on how utterly shit everything is and abandon all positivity. Yes, we're in League 1 but please let those of us who feel optimistic and -dare I say it- vaguely positive for the first time in many years, be happy? Even if you feel we're utterly deluded, it's not your responsibility to drag everyone else down. We might like silver linings!

It's not newly found. Not from my point of view anyway. In fairness I've said for long time id rather we had someone else in charge. That said in willing to give him 10 games to prove me wrong!

10 games how very generous., bet reading fans are glad they didn't say that, or man utd.

10 games for a starting 11 that I would guess more than 50% will be playing together competitively for the first time.

Maybe you at least consider up to mid January.

10 games should be plenty.

His first 10 games apparently made him one of the best managers we've ever had.

One thing that's never known, which we'd all be very interested in, is who his number one targets were and how many of them were missed? How important, for example, was the signing of James Collins?

It must be painful for him to see players like Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson, Jack Cork etc doing so well when we had the chance to sign them and didn't.

Let's see how the team perform first before we start taking hats off.

Doing so well??

We were never going to sign them, just balls from Ranson.

These claims I keep hearing of us having 'the best squad in the league' are a bit ridiculous when we haven't even kicked a ball! The truth is we won't have any idea until at least a quarter of the way through; and even then the acid test comes in the final quarter.

If we leave it any longer and we don't perform I fear we'll end up rotting in this league like we did The Championship. It's not like he's only just taken over this season and I'm giving a New manager 10 games before he's sacked. Thorn had all last season plus the 10 games before remember.

I agree - the only 'proven' player we've signed is a 35 year old winding down his career.

Well I didn't see this coming in a million years

Yes I think it's fair to say all 3 have moved up in the world since we were sniffing around isn't it?

If these claims by Ranson weren't true then why has nobody moved to deny them?

To be fair Reading were 15th on 12 points after the first 10 games and they won't he Championship league title.

We do also have statistically the worst manager in the league. Is that a handicap?

We were not signing Henderson et al. This is hogwash invented by Ranson. If needs be ill dig out the evidence yet again.

Because it's so laughable?

We could maybe have afforded them if Ranson hadn't been taking all our money, or if even he'd loaned £3.5 million to us to buy players, instead of one of our Championship rivals whilst being Chairman?

Still his claims did the job, deflected the attention from him being investigated by the Football League when he "resigned".

Funny how the usual suspects refuse to believe things that seem perfectly plausible.

Certainly a worthwhile strategy to employ with Ginetta, if he's ever right about anything, it will be the first time.

A friend of mine said today that our relegation into league 1 could be the making of this club. I for one agree with him. As many have said on here, we stagnated in the championship. Something had to happen to get us out of that stagnation. It was either promotion or relegation and while we wanted the former, we got the latter!

But it's had a good effect in my eyes. We've got rid of a lot of the dead weight like Clingan, Harrison etc, we've lost some players that we didn't want to lose, though it was inevitable but most importantly, SISU have done something. We're not quite sure what it is but it's enabled Thorn to get 7 players and possible 3/4 more. Yeh we haven't had a great 12 years since being relegated from the Premiership but this could be out turning point!

So can you blame us for harbouring some hopes of a change in our circumstances? No I don't think you can. We're not being overly optermistic, just quietly hoping that this could be the break we've been praying for, for all these years. If you don't feel the same way of us, then that's fine, I'm not going to tell you how you feel, but please don't drag us down. Leave us to our hope and we'll leave you to your dispair!

Does that sound fair to you?

It won't be 10 games. It will be 66 and yes he had better get it right or he's out by then.

But we don't.....Dean Saunders record is actually worse than Thorns, and he had players like Chimbonda and Diouf and Piquouinne to call upon, and also had 13 years of coaching and management exercise to draw upon.

AT 40 points in 46 games 0.869 points per game
DS 28 points in 33 games 0.848 points per game

Nothing to be proud of but isn't statistically the worst manager in the league.

Re: AT it might be a handicap, but as he's going nowhere we should get behind him and e lads and see where we are 10-15 games in

Agree, you can judge a team over ten games that are in freefall have played together all season then a new manager sorts the same bunch of players out.

However to judge mostly a new bunch of players in a new league and for a few a new country over the first ten games ........... It doesn't take genius to question that logic and I am certainly no genius
