Waggott and Fisher talked of the requirement target this season being top 6 and promotion.

With us now bottom of the league they surely couldn't have told Robins last night that he needs to get us into the top 6 by the end of the season could they? That can't be his remit.

Surely the goalposts have moved and the remit has to be just to get us up the table as far as possible.

Be interested to see what they have to say on the matter.

It is a target not a requirement. If they made it a requirement he would know he would be out of a job again next summer. might not be so keen to take it then.

We're 8 points off the play offs, we're 7 games in. Of course the remit hasnt changed.

He's not got the same clean slate Andy Thorn was working with now though has he Musty.

He is starting off from a negative position.

And I know it's a target, Dave, but if AT was still here he would have been sacked had he not achieved that target come the end of the season, so therefore it was a requirement.

Will Robins' job be on the line if we don't make the play-offs? That's kind of the point I'm making and question I'm trying to ask.

There is no way on god earth we will make the playoffs, last night was a shocker. The most spineless, gutless performance I've seen from a City team in many a year. We need a miracle just to get mid table with this bunch of jokers.

Technically you can win the league and still lose about 12 to 13 games, so technically we can still get promoted and I would think that this is Robins remit guaranteeing he gets these loan players that may be available. Saying that if we don't go up Robins won't get sacked, as it would just be pointless

Well I would agree.

Unless he fails miserably we've got to give him next season too surely.

Let's face no one is going to run away with this division, Tranmere like Yeovil will have their bubble burst very soon. The majority of teams in this league are very average, hence the strength of the championship, every team apart from peterborough have a chance of the play offs

the thing is though most teams maybe average, however we as a team are obviously below average ,, apart from 5 minuets here and there

Still too early to be writing things off at this stage Otis. For me, Christmas will be when to decide to go for either consolidation or a playoff/promotion push; if we're still way off the pace in mid-table or lower, having already laid out a load of cash, throwing more money down the toilet couldn't be justified. We don't even need to be in the play-offs by then, just within touching distance.

Still think the aim should be play offs but Robins need backing in the loan market. We are shocking at the back.

We need another centre back, some width, pace and another striker.

Not much to ask for is it!

Brought in 2 dodgy centre backs in the summer, and Wood is reputedly on a big deal, he is here till summer 2013.

The remit at the moment is to restore some stability.. the club is in free fall.

A bad run of 7 games can happen at any time of the season, ours has come at the start. Norwich and Southampton were in very similar situations and still managed to get promoted, Palace and Sunderland have both made runs from the bottom end of the Championship at Christmas to go up. Saying we can't make the play offs is defeatist and reflective of the losing mentality throughout the club.

The new manager should ask for 2 lines to be formed at training (yes we can get promoted / no we can't). Anyone that doesn't join the 'Yes we can' line double quick, should be left out and shipped out at the earliest opportunity, quickly followed by those that don't show the belief and commitment on the pitch.

What difference does it make? They'll script the new manager's contract in Fuzzy Felt so they can change it, or just simply ignore it if it turns out not to retrospectively favour them in any case

True.

The expectation from Thorn was play-offs. Just wondering if they are now expecting that from Robins this season.

For a guy who kept a team up after a 17 point deduction and a playoff place the season before was it? would suggest he is capable of ganering the players into winning runs of games and the playoffs are an easy target and even auto is by no means out of the question. The Saints did a similar thing didn't they?
