People acting like Prince Andrew is Jimmy Saville. It's not right but we're talking about an alleged liaison with a 17 year old around 20 years ago. Still illegal where he was but not in the UK, morally corrupt perhaps but nonce is a stretch. Would I feel differently if it were my daughter? Of course I would, but it's simply a convenient stick to raise for the anti establishment crew.

Tbh whatever side if the fence you sit (and I've had some very funny whatsapps this week) then it's surely a time for respect, at least in public. There'll be plenty of opportunities to protest monarchy events in the future, but to go out of your way simply to get his two seconds of public fame and adulation for being 'right on' is pathetic, with the queen not even buried. Respect shown all around the world and in many places where he'd certainly not be afforded the freedom to dare to be so 'brave'.

Nonce apologist, it wasn't just liaison with a 17 year old it was a 17 year old that had been trafficked to where it took place.

In true tabloid style then...

Five things to make yourself a great king (plus one strange fact).

Remove the sword from the stone.
Find the Holy Grail.
Beat the French in a war.
Behead a wife or two.
Wave well.

I find this self promotion bullshit worse than calling Prince Andrew a sick old man

Psychic Real Housewives of Cheshire star Deborah Davies spotted an "angel" alongside the Queen in the last snaps of the beloved monarch before she died aged 96

"A non political national treasure like Stephen Fry" - he also mentioned someone else non political I cannot recall but its an attempt to diffuse the objections.

Mr Fry isn't exactly non political but really we all know who Mr Murphy would really want to see as President - he should have just said it and then stood his ground

Also to further show that the balance of debate on TV is present we were treated to the spectacle of that old Fossil Polly Toynbee and her former boss (twice I believe) - on the Andrew Neil Channel 4 programme discussing the future of the monarchy (or lack of it as they want)

Toynbee really is a special kind of journalist. Always on the wrong side of public opinion. At lease she remains consistent to the end.

I think Fry is mentioned because he scored well in a poll of who we’d want as a HoS rather than just a random. Though in that poll so did Boris Johnson and um, the Queen.

Perhaps we should get Hugh Laurie and Rowan Atkinson as his chief advisors

Given the competition will be a different constitution I’d suggest rather well.

I think the Queen owned a Wii so in this case its definitely not 'what she would have wanted.' Gutted if she's missed out on Mario Galaxy 3 though.

Has it? I have no idea. Lots of people don't have to make much effort compared to others. I do not even understand the point. I am not even a royalist - not at all really - but changing will achieve what exactly? It just seems a lot of resentment and anger to me.

Nice piece.

Mourning sickness

The British media's coverage of the death of Queen Elizabeth II is a combination of cowardice, craven careerism, and the completely unhinged.

We’ve been here before but it doesn’t anger me-I just think there’s a better and more meritocratic option. What does admittedly get annoying is when the privilege is mishandled or worse exploited as it did when Andrew was bailed out or when Charles interfered with ministers.

Country has gone mad

Man charged after Prince Andrew heckled during royal procession

It happened while King Charles led senior members of the Royal Family to St Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh - following behind a hearse carrying the Queen's coffin.

FlightRadar24 App is down, with currently over half a million people trying to track the flight which is taking the Queen from Edinburgh to RAF Northolt.

London is going to be even more of a mess than it usually is in the coming week or so.

Well according to some the arrest was a form of protection. Because not liking the Royals is a bigger crime than assault

Well it is Scotland, they're lawless alcoholics up there.

Once ex-queenie gets to that London, order will be restored.

It's the bastion of fairness, as espoused by Wayne Couzens.
