The thing is we all think it now .. But it would be different if we were still in the premier league .. If you think we sold Wallace for £1 million 37 years ago and there was nowhere near as much money in the game back then .. £50 million is basically the cost of a reasonable player nowadays... Or £50 if your in league one

Man Utd seemed to be linked with just about every player going if they signed them all they would have about 10 strikers

At the FSF meeting a couple of months ago it was suggested one way to make a statement is for a huge number of people to all cancel their sports subscriptions within a 5 minute period. The next day they all then subscribe, once again within a 5 minute period. The theory is Sky's systems wouldn't cope and would crash.

I've been waiting for the bubble to burst for the last 10 years or so but this grotesque monster just keeps growing. It's got to happen one day and It'll be a joyous day when it does, even if a load of premiership clubs go bust in the process.

Why the *uck do the masses keep subscribing to this shit? Do they enjoy being ripped off? Is it a "must have" thing to keep up with the Jones' like all this Apple bollocks? It's for ****ing mugs.

If there hadn't been mass subscription to Sky Sports we'd all be watching major sporting events for free on BBC and ITV and players wouldn't be on the ludicrous sums of money for kicking a bag of wind about. I'm really pissed off because a whole host of sporting events have now been denied to me unless I yield to this extortion racket. And anyone who has Sky Sports but then pays an additional fee to watch boxing on "pay per view" needs their head examining. ****ing idiots!

What would the point in that be? Surely you'd be better off keeping your money in your pocket once you've unsubscibed?

Its worth what people are willing to pay for it, if people want to follow premier league football then they have to join up to Sky simply. I hate the way football is at the moment but its a matter of personal choice. For the record, I don't have sky but I don't decry people who do.

Equally I brought an Ipad around 6 months ago and love it. Each to there own and all that I guess.

The only further issue they have brought is moving over to BT sport to try and create 'competition' well that hasn't worked as no people have to subscribe to two separate channels doubling the price!

People are willing to take out loans from Wonga. Is it worth it? People are willing to buy goods from Brighthouse. Is it worth it?

Each to their own and all that I guess. Still, as long as people have "informed choice" I'll try not to decry it.

It means those that want to watch live sport can do so and still make a statement.

Think you need to go and have a cold shower mate, calm down.

You get what you pay for with Sky Sports, I love it and couldnt live without it, and I get way more than my moneys worth for it. The ammount of sport you get on there is incredible and the coverage is second to none.

What would happen if people stopped buying sky? They wouldnt be alble to pay for the rights? Fair do's, but there are hundreds of companies/broadcasters out there that would pay the going rate if sky disappear and still charge you to watch the games. The current situation is the best for all involved.

If broadcasters werent able to pay the going rate to pick up and show the matches, the clubs would then begin to take control them themselves, you will be able to pay to stream every match from the team of your choice for whatever the club want to charge, that money wouldnt then go into a pot and be divided as currently happens. The gap between the big clubs and the minnows would become even greater.

Sky is the answer, let it go and jump on board!

It would be considerably longer than that. Main things is a phone/computer system is designed to cope with x amount of traffic per minute. If all of a sudden tripple or quadruple that amount all need access to the same area it would just crash.

I don't need to calm down mate.....I'm not one of the mugs handing over £500+ per year to Murdoch & his bunch of cunts enabling them to continue to poison our national game.

If "Sky is the answer".....the question must be "who can we trust to simultaneously hype & fuck the future of football (and other sports) in this country?"

I feel a bit naive here .. I never realised sky telly could cost £70 a month .. Jesus Christ no wonder so many people stream from the internet.. So with the cost of a TV liscence which looks cheap now some people are are paying £1000 a year to watch TV .. That is mental

Why are you so angry at the world?

Come up with an alternative for sky running British football yet?

not worth it for people like you or I but for other people who either have no common sense or are desperate for cash then yes it is worth it. Its all in perspective really

i think English football has gone past the point of simply stopping people subscribing. The game needs a massive overhaul to even the odds, money is flowing to players and that will keep increasing. You will never stop Sky and as someone posted there will be a number of other suppliers (BT being the latest) queuing up to do the same. Football financially doesnt need fans anymore (premier league) which is a sad fact.

I'm not angry in the slightest, quite the opposite thanks. Just been boxing and walking home by the sea, life is good.

Haha, British football has been around a lot longer than fucking Sky. Do you own a half and half scarf? Do you get excited by the banter in the studio during Saturday soccer special or whatever it's called?

If you fail to see that Sky that is responsible for a lot of what is wrong with football today then you need your head looking at.

Whats a half and half scarf? And no, Im usually in the casino at the Ricoh or travelling to an away game between the hours of 12-3.

Still no alternative though? Ive not for one moment suggested that Sky havent played there part in the state of football but what I am saying is there is no better alternative, so the sooner you get your head around that and embrace it and enjoy the huge talent on show week in week out, largely due to sky's money, the sooner you'll become a happier more relaxed individual.

I'm guessing youre one of these people that says "I hate SISU, look at what theyve done to my club, how dare they" but then can offer no reasonable alternative.

Imo it's not the amount Sky and BT have pumped in that is the problem. It's how the money from TV and commercial revenue is distributed. Football really could learn a lot from GAA.

No surprise with Southgate as manager.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - so please excuse any spelling or grammar errors :)[/QUOTE

this should now put an end to the fa dream of that twat Southgate as the first team manager, he should resign today and if not be sacked he was no good in the first place and a born loser who couldn't even take a penalty, if I hadn't watched the game I would have thought they had won listening to his after match speech going on about possession.

Southgate has done a decent job with the 21's. Obviously we've had a bad tournament, but injuries have affected the side a lot.

I've always said though that coaches should manage the lower age groups, not managers.
