In 3 of our 4 games we’ve had to score at least 3 goals to win a game. I would say it is a big issue especially as we weren’t even big scorers last season.

The only team we’ve kept a clean sheet against us is the one everyone else has too

Giving the ball away in the middle of the park against better opponents is always going to expose you. Dabo/Rose getting fully fit will help us, but for me it is the lack of ball retention that has hurt us most. One team has dominated us from start to finish, and the QPR game first half. The rest of the time we have been competitive, but we can all see the issues re: looking after the ball. O'Hare is already establishing himself as our main attacking threat - partly because he is the most comfortable accepting the ball and carrying the ball at pace (aside from Giles with the odd cameo) We're going to have this type of analysis every time we lose. A long old season awaits!!

A point about the referee last night. Bournemouth players (as most will) realised that they could get away with a certain level of aggression that the referee let go. As an opposition fan we didn't like it, but that's where they were 'clever'. He let a few blatant scything tackles go without cards, which sets the tone, Annoying, especially as they were already in control (almost adding insult to injury). I suppose we'd have 'enjoyed' seeing our side do that to the opposition (e.g. Hamer, if he was winding up the opposition, and getting away with it?)

Relax, Max isn't getting a game so Gren needs another to focus on And if Ostigard performs as well as Max did under Gren's microscopic analysis, he's going to have a great season

Personally, I've been impressed with Ostigard. For his age, his positioning is good, his distribution is fair and he certainly doesn't duck out of tackles. He's also shown he knows where the opponents goal is too. The way we have been pressured in our first few games has meant the defence generally has had more to do and he's held up to the job well.

I think when Rose comes back into the fold, we will actually see that Ostigards distribution isn't that bad, it's just that we're playing at a higher level.

As for Hamer, he is definitely really hard, but hopefully someone will just tell him that so he falls over next time someone pushes him, instead of trying to prove himself to his teammates

Ostigard is very good, and the fact that Grendel thinks he isn't only gives me more confidence in my opinon.

True but if you compare

Bristol - Hamer yellow (taken off before sent off) / Ostegard not booked
Qpr - Hamer not booked / Ostegard not booked
Barnsley - Hamer yellow / Ostegard not booked
Bournemouth- Hamer red /Ostegard Yellow (taken off before sent off)

2 yellows, 1 red in 4 league games vs 1 yellow in 4 league games. Its clear to see why people are questioning Hamers temperament.

Doyle didn’t miss too many games though. Hamer needs to learn to keep things under wraps with his aggression.

Exactly. Doyle averaged a card every 3-4 league games and had no red cards in his last spell. Hammer has 3 cards in 4 games.

In league 2. Where two footed tackles above the knee get you a ticking off.

And Hamer has averaged a card every 4 to 5 games through his career. Taking a 4 game sample size is just ridiculous.

When he had just moved to a new country, playing in a different league, in a different system, with different players. He's settling in and finding his feet, he's going to make some more mistakes.

I do think with a player like him learning where the line is for English refs compared to the ones he’s used to will be vital. I just thought he’d do that quicker

The forum has been proof that @hill83 is pretty factually accurate with the shit/world class response to a player. The last 24 hours has seen shit of ridiculous proportions put out for judgment.

A much as Cook was the WUM, you cannot raise your hands at a player. Right decision, very naive from Hamer.

Also I think he did spit at Cook, see below:

That tweets been deleted. Hands up, first time i saw a replay I though there was a possibility and asked the question in the match thread (it was a question), others thought possibly. Following on from that the sky analysis showed it from other angles and it didn’t look like it at all from that angle. Cook moved his head suddenly as if reacting to something.

However, it wasn’t complained about by their players (can you imagine if he actually had), the referee hasn’t mentioned it and Sky didn’t see anything. Unless there’s more evidence somewhere (the deleted tweet?). It would (rightly) have been a big deal at the moment if he’d spat in someone’s face, so I can’t see it myself.

He's only played 4 games, i can only judge on what I've seen. He looks quality on the ball, but off the ball he's looked ill disciplined so far, are we not allowed to comment or form an opinion?

I'm sure with coaching this will improve, but is still a talking point.

No there's a few other posters on here without eyes too

He's settling in, he clearly has the talent and will get better. Most people can already see there is a player there. Walsh's first few games for us were not great.

Hamer has now set himself up as a target for all the opposition WUM's. Other teams will have watched last night and he needs to wisen up quickly, otherwise it won't be long before he will be getting sent off again. Aggression is obviously part of his game, and one of the reasons MR signed him, but he just needs to be cuter in those dark arts. His shirt pulls, pushes in the face and screaming at referees are too obvious, and we need him to quickly learn how to incorporate those aspects of his game in a more sly manner like Doyle did, and that end up riling the opposition and getting them to lose their heads instead.

I think his touch and his passing is on another level to the rest of the team. I’ll confess that I’ve been so in awe of that that I didn’t really notice the off the ball stuff until last night. Still, we’ve only just started coaching the lad I’m sure he will be even better soon

I think because he’s a £1m plus player he does get bit of a pass from fans. He’s clearly a very talented guy but he still has a lot to learn. He does has some sloppy passes in his game, not tracking players at time and clearly he has a target on his head that the opposition players want to get at.

Even though chances created he is one of the top U23 players in Europe, the big clubs haven’t snapped him up because there are some big negatives in his play. But it’s up to us to work on that and make him better. As the season goes on and he gets more experience he will be integral to our play.

Also fair play to the lad. He apologised last night to the fans.
