Thought he was our best player yesterday & the game turned when he went off,Can’t remember the last time I seen a City player deliver such quality from set pieces his passing is superb some of the passes he was playing were from the highest level you see at the top level.

Don’t worry about the yellow card & having to come off he’s not fully match sharp in English football just yet Robins will have it sorted by the time we play QPR Friday no doubt about it,we have an outstanding player on our hands in Gustavo Hamer

I've watched two championship games this weekend and both contained goals from set pieces. Going to be very important that we start making them count.
Having some one who can deliver is a start.

Yes brilliant. Needs to be managed by Robins to make sure we see as much of him as possible on the pitch. Definitely a hot head.

Excellent on the ball and tenacious in the tackle, a perfect all round midfielder, was lucky to avoid a second yellow yesterday when fouling their player and trying to block the quick free kick, hopefully Robins will sort that element out.

That half volley pass through to oHare would have been creamed over if somebody in the Premier League did it.

Maybe 1 foul was potentially worthy of the yellow card (not even the foul he made to get the card in the first place imho). Wouldn't necessarily say he's a hot head, but rather a tenacious midfielder. Thought Bristol players who couldn't keep up with him were trying hard to bait the ref into getting him sent off (which is pretty pathetic).

Luckily we had a decent referee and didn’t overreact to a couple of fouls after booking Hamer, can imagine what that clown Kettle would have done.

I expect another holding player to possibly come in this week as Kelly is out we will never cover for Hamer and Sheaf,a short loan possibly.

I thought Sheaf (smiler) looked quality Yesterday when he came on made some brilliant tackles and was comfortable on the ball never shy of picking it up and playing you can see the pedigree he’s got coming from West Ham & Arsenal

It looks like our recruitment department have unearthed some real gems in Hamer, Sheaf, Ostigard, and Walker. It’s very early days, but they all look the part.

Hamer was very classy and most importantly, showed a lot of leadership yesterday, which is great in Kelly’s absence.

Silly yellow yesterday, which put the spotlight on him in the ref’s eyes. But, he’s tenacious and he adds steel and creativity in our midfield.

As for Sheaf, he’s going to be a very capable understudy to Kelly. He passed the ball around well and got some neat tackles in too. Good first impressions.

O’Hare looked the classiest midfielder on the pitch for a good 60-70m too.

Overall, I’m v happy with the recruitment so far.

Also highlights how important it is we defend them better as well.

Not convinced by zonal marking - I think it has far more downsides than up and can be exploited pretty easily by putting lots of attackers in one zone leaving the defender massively outnumbered. As long as you've got someone who can deliver set pieces into an area accurately (and at this level we've got to assume most teams will) it quickly becomes a massive problem.

Who’d of thought we would be without Walsh and Kelly, and yet we’d be stronger for it! (potentially)

Indeed. But on another day with another ref he might have pulled the card out for either of those challenges (even if it would've been harsh) and we're down to 10. Fact is we were given the opportunity to replace him as he gave him a couple of warnings. Another day we probably won't be given that opportunity. It's something he's going to have to pick up quickly.

Did anyone see Hamer yesterday having a moan at the forward Players for not moving when he was in possession ?

Love to see it

How can you say he’s not as good as Walsh ?

He’s played 1 competitive game for us in a league higher than when you see Walsh play for us ? It’s impossible to make that statement mate let’s be real it’s far too early to tell.

Your missing the point...you’ve seen enough of Walsh but you haven’t seen enough of Hamer so how can you compare ? You’ve also never seen Walsh at championship level he was sent on loan from the level as he couldn’t get in at his club hence why we had him.

But Walsh was underwhelming in his first few appearances. Gave the ball away a couple of times that resulted in the opposition scoring. Took him quite a few games to settle in.

So if you're going to do the comparison it's only fair to compare Hamer after one game to Walsh after Walsh's first game. In which case I'd say Hamer looked the more impressive. Don't recall a massive clamour to sign Walsh up after his first game or people saying how they could see the absolute quality in him that he eventually showed.

Read a few comments saying Walsh wasn't good enough after a couple of games. Same with Dabo. Hamer has settled very quickly.

He looks a great signing, albeit based on two first team games.

Sheaf put the best corner of the match in when he came on so looks like we may have two dead ball specialists.

He didn't try and block the free kick, their player jumped up and kicked it at him to try and get him sent off.

Love the look of our midfield this season.

O’Hare a class act, him and Allen so hard working and tenacious defending from the front. Hamer and Sheaf classy AF and with bite. Giles looks dangerous going forward and OK defensively, Dabo is Dabo.

Really looking forward to this season. Get a bit of sharpness, a bit of fitness, and a bit of understanding of the division and we’ll surprise a few people.

Reminds me of Fleck. Cant help salivating all over this chap. Hes gonna be special.

But we need to reign ourselves, we have seen the odd Ogogu in recent years who we raved about initially.

And rightly so. He wanted to play a nice little slide through ball from great position and nobody was showing him any movement. Completely static. Once he and the forwards play more together they will be on the same wavelength.

Based on what we saw yesterday Hamer would walk into that Bristol City team!

Hamer's debut was FAR more impressive than any of Walsh's first few games for us. I think they're slightly different players and I anticipate both will go on to play at a similar level (hopefully with us...)

Bristol City fans very complimentary of him on their forum, said he was the best player on the pitch before being taken off.

I think we were unfortunate that Hamer being subbed, our legs tiring and Bristol making changes all happened in a short period. That was where we lost the game.
