Football players retiring in their early 30's isn't early. It takes dedication and a healthy lifestyle to carry on until the mid 30's and further. The reason Hamer has got away with it this long is he is a gifted player. He loves his beer. He loves his food. He should have financial security by now.

For his lifestyle I thought he had a great engine on him when he played here. Had no trouble getting up and down the pitch and was still able to find the quality

He is a quality player. and gets around the pitch. Internet myths are perpetuated by the real kebab and lager munchers down the pub!

Exactly, it's not like he's single handedly dragged a Preston or somebody right up the table.

They have good players and O'Hare looks bang average in that side.

You think he's not overweight for a professional footballer?

Probably, but I'd bet not so much in the modern era.
It will catch up with him.

The thing with Hamer when he played for us in his last season the opposition could not get near him. He seemed to have all the time in the world that is a sign of a top player.
This was repeated when he played both games against us this season.
His touch is great, his vision and passing brilliant, his speed of thought exceptional. And he scores great goals.
He was Sheff U player of the season in the PL.
He was voted Championship player of the season on merit.
If we happened to make the playoffs, and we play Sheff U, we need to deal with Hamer better than during the last two games.

There was one on here the other day.
And you can clearly see hes over weight for a professional footballer.
Fairly sure some of his city team mates mentioned his lifestyle in podcast, ( think Eccles was one).

There's been several.

He has been out several times for muscular injuries. He also has been subbed off a fair few times. Seems like his heart isn't there like it was with us. He still apologised to us when he scored against us last time.

Very good player but would have been better suited 40 years ago when the players used to get hammered with the supporters.

His heart has nothing to do with it and his 'apology' to us was a hollow one.

He's a player who'll never reach his full potential due to his choices off the pitch. He could have regularly played in a top-flight consistently, but that's unlikely to happen at this point now...there's a reason why he's been playing in the Championship this season and it's not down to a lack of ability.

Hamer is a PL player every day of the week. He looked class in a very poor SU side last year. He's under contract at SU and they wanted to rebuild around him (aided by the cheating parachute money) so it would have taken a lot of cash to prise him away.

Yup so obvious. But nah it's his weight mate lol

Bitter fans. "I want a heartfelt apologyyyy" because a player joined a different club haha

Hamer joins a club to play in Premier League and we get a fee - Judas.

O'Hare deliberately ran his contract down and joins a rival Championship side - it's the clubs fault.

Sometimes football fans logic and prejudices are hilarious

I don't think it's demanding an apology, but the rather contrived, insincere video that was put out.

Tbf, I would imagine that he was asked to do it, or at least didn't decide on the tone of it.

I think they did it because Vik did a genuine, off the cuff one, but Hamer's just came across as cringy.

Gyokores could just be a good actor tbh. And it's not like his was super emotional or anything

Players leave in football. No point getting angry about it unless it's a bad break up which hamers never was.

O hare you can understand a bit as he didn't sign a new contract when offered it but blamed the club. He has his pov obviously

But some people don't like it when fans don't dislike hamer and I find that weird as there really is no need to have an issue with him

No idea. I Don't follow sheff utd.
You obviously think he's in great shape, fair play.
Though if you step on a football pitch in poor condition it's not very professional in my opinion, you obviously disagree

He's not out of shape, but it's not too controversial to speculate that with a more professional attitude he might have achieved more as a player.

He may not care; I get the impression that football is a job rather than a passion for him.

He's achieved player of the season hasn't he? Are people saying he would be on the champions league if he didn't drink alcohol?

I think he is in decent shape and a consistent top performer, who is probably Sheffield United's best player this season in the Championship and last season in the Premier League.

He has managed far more games than Ben Sheaf since 2020.

I agree with everything apart from in decent shape.
I've watched some of his bookings this season and it's clearly a case of the brain telling the legs to make a tackle they're not capable of.

As someone said, maybe he's happy with his lifestyle and where he is, and that's up to him but he could definitely go up a notch or two if he took better care of himself.

It always was the tackle his brain was telling him he should have a go at. Generally when he had given the ball away and was in “catch up mode”.

Would need to be surrounded by better players, he is having to make up for others short fallings.
