He no doubt was a very good player, but he used to frustrate the hell out of me, he was too greedy, and as he had a shot like a rocket, decided to use it even when it was the worst option… Not a good team player in my opinion.

Agreed, that and his dreadful discipline were the things I didn't like about him.

We've had Hadji since then. So it's a no from me.

Thompson was quality. Hamer is also quality. The suggestion to move him from CDM by Philosopher was utterly ludicrous

To those who didn't rate Thompson, I can only think that they didn't see the season after relegation from the Premier League? He was brilliant. After us, he made several England squads and would surely have been capped if it hadn't been for injury (and another decent RM named David). If he was disparaging about our quality when he signed, well we did get relegated so he was proven right ultimately.

Hadji was wonderfully gifted but played out of position and inconsistent. (stands back).

Yes, and as your post implies he was a part of that. Big money signing and he was mediocre in the Premier League. It's funny really, his attitude was similar to Bellamy. Strangely better players like McAllister and Keane had managed to see the club finish comfortably the prior season with largely the same squad otherwise.

As I said, he was a very good player, and well thought of by lots of fans. He had brilliant moments, but I didn’t see the brilliant player that maybe others did. Just my opinion.

I've already had to put up with people dissing David Thompson mate so let's not go in on Hadji too, not sure I can take it.

Sorry mate, more that we failed to get the best out of an awesome talent. I'm with you with Thompson, though.

I don't think he was the issue in the relegation season. There are too many to mention, but Bellamy missing chance after gilt edged chance and a diabolical defence are probably top. Thompson was called into the England squad based on his Premier League form during the October of the season after he left us, so not that mediocre.

Since getting sent off and sorting out his discipline he’s been a revelation and has matured mentally to complement his ability.
Fair play to him.

Wasn’t Bellamy a teenager at the time? He had way too much pressure on him for his age, especially considering it was his first season in the premier league.

Both of them fucked off to Villa, which blights them.

Hamer is so important to our overall play

We do need to take advantage of the feel good and get some extensions sorted for vik and Gustavo

Playing right midfield? I'm not sure what the selection of a player in a different position who had one good season has to do with the quality of a player who most City fans know was good (he won Player of the Year here).

21. Admittedly a terrible choice to replace Keane after bad injury, but he was still shite and had an awful attitude and body language.

In fairness to Bellamy he had just got back from serious injure could have been an ACL, I think he proved in his career after us he was a very good player, got better when he ditched the Strachan influence.

It's got more to do with the whims of the manager in charge at the time
