Do we drop walker for Allen when fit and go back to 1 up top for the run in? Palmer fit for the playoffs?

It took Palmer 25 games to get fit, even if he was available for play offs he's going to be well off the pace.

How would that work? 5311 sort of thing? Eccles Hamer and Sheaf seems to work pretty well so far, I’m not sure if I’d drop one to play Allen and Maguire. Maybe Allen in for Eccles but I’m not sure it would work as well in this system.

The Birmingham sending off was a blessing in disguise.
He's worked hard to eradicate some of the silliness from his game since then and just concentrate on his football.

The defensive side of his game is excellent

He's been booked 3 times in the last 5 games though, including the last 2. Needs to be careful not to slip back into old ways.

Doesn’t he need more than one yellow a game to get banned now?

True. But I thought his was one yesterday was a 'good booking', which sometimes you have to accept. Its the daft ones for the likes of dissent which are so frustrating which he seems to be on top of now.

I think it's 15 across a whole season after game 37. So he's ok, having had 7 I believe, but also 2 reds, so a double yellow in a game could mean a hefty ban.

So if he got booked every game for the rest of the season would he get a suspension?

Allen for Eccles, no, Allen needs to earn his place in the side, Mark Robins will probably bring Allen on as a second half sub.

How would you arrange them? Not a flat four surely so who would go at the top of the box?

I think we are blessed in a couple ways really , there aren't many strikers that play the way vik plays in this league , and can you honestly say you've seen many midfielders as unique and energetic as Hamer ?

We are blessed atm

Could say the same about O’Hare as an AM if he were fit too.

After his second red I did think his value would be lower than it should be, say around £3m. Since then he's been phenomenal and those that were talking of £8m aren't looking quite so silly.

Yes. It’s always been that way. More than one yellow a game gets you a ban.

Like a diamond? If we’re doing that I think I’d have Allen at the tip.

Only if O'Hare wasn't available. Not sure how well Palmer would work in that sort of formation, because you'd ideally like him to be second choice ahead of Allen but would the pressing be there?

I mean a reality check is we still look very poor defensively at times (despite the clean sheet tally) and have got overrun in midfield including against Wigan a week ago (tbf maybe that’s mainly tactical failings and maybe our slow starting)…

Not really a reality check when we have the 4th best defence in the league .. we rarely look poor at the back

Really? We often look poor at the back.
but somehow don’t concede many. It’s a strange one. In a good way…

One of the benefits of 3 at the back I think. Always got 2 more centre backs to cover if one makes a mistake.
