You’re correct we can’t compare Gyokeres in League two, he’s never been at that stage in his career when he’s had to drop that low

ultimately let’s compare the only thing we can compare - the records at this level

Gyokeres: 108 games 41 goals
McNulty: 13 games 1 goal.

Any thoughts on this now that Sporting have bid £18m @BackRoomRummermill?

How wrong I was.

I thought it’s close season, we can all stop the passion driven madness and bed wetting. We can engage in civilised, profound, sensible conversation.

Every time I’ve nipped on here, or anywhere on the internet in fact, it seems to have hit a new low of insanity.

Pretty sure his girlfriend is at Juve still. He’d do very well in Serie A, I reckon.

Ben Wilson was part of a team that got promoted. He also scored as many Championship goals as McNulty. Does that put them on level terms as a striker?

Some Saudi team will be ‘making a move’ to sign him next. There’s an agent out there somewhere trying way too hard…

They need sack their manager/scouts - there’s a player who’s scored 16 goals since we were in League 2 who’d be much better value.

The transfer value as it stands is £18m, that is the only liability at this point

I loved McNulty while he was with us for a season but he hardly showed the same amount of love for us - and scuttled off to a higher level at the first opportunity.

I didn’t blame him but to suggest that he in anyway compares to Gyökeres in terms of contribution and value is frankly embarrassing.

Probably not adding much insight but the Sporting move looks a decent deal to me. Doubt we'd get 35% sell on clause from most offers.

The way I see it the Portuguese league isn't that strong outside the top 3-4 teams, the lower half clubs are probably weaker than championship level. I'd back Vik to fill his boots and get a huge move in 1-2 seasons. Will be great to get a slice of that pie

I'd imagine this is what his agent has sold him on. Probably his best route to a massive team down the line as going to a lower end Prem team can be a huge struggle. The Portuguese league has a long history of being a stepping stone to huge teams I reckon that's his vision.

The “end of the transfer window” wording is indeed important. If he is “sold for more than £20m by end of the transfer window” then I’m happy to pay up. I’m even willing to take into account the value of future fees that have been agreed at the time of the player’s sale, before the end of the transfer window. But I somehow doubt that the value of any sell-on clauses will have been agreed on and collected by the end of the transfer window, so they shouldn’t count imo.

Again, if @Earlsdon_Skyblue1 and I cannot agree on the value of the fee, I have said I am happy to void the bet. It’s up to him whether he wants to go ahead with the bet he suggested.

Honestly, reading the last couple of pages of this thread, I'm starting to think you are one of the more sane people in here. That is fucking worrying.

The bet is getting a bit silly. The margins are very close, your charities are deliberately provocactive, and your nervousness about me revealing your true name to the public are overshadowing everything. Not to mention the current status of Gyökeres.

As I said before, charity is the main thing here. I think it might therefore be best if we put the swords away and settle this the way of gentlemen. I'm offering you a charity boxing match. You and me in the ring. Everybody wins, and a decent charity can profit from it. It'll also go down the SBT Hall of Fame too. Let me know and we will get it arranged.

I'll leave it up to you.

Having already moaned about being likely to lose the bet which he first suggested, it seems that @Earlsdon_Skyblue1 has moved onto making odd statements like my charities being “provocative” (?!) and challenging me to a fight. While I’m proud to join the large ranks of forum members who have been granted that particular honour, it doesn’t sound like he’s willing to step up to the plate and take the bet which he was mocking people for not taking only a few days ago.

Not to worry - in an effort to make sure no charity loses out owing to his unwillingness to put his money where his mouth is, I’ve just donated £125 to the @Mild-Mannered Janitor season ticket fund. I’ve done so anonymously, of course - everyone here has the right to privacy if they so wish - but if anyone would like to see the screenshot of my payment to prove it was me then please just ask. I hope and assume that @Earlsdon_Skyblue1 will make his own donation to make sure the £250 total makes its way to a charity that I’m sure we can all agree is in no way “deliberately provocative”.

I've never seen a post that screams cuckold beta male more than this.

I offered you a fair bet, you took a week to come back. You then offered out some very strange terms which you thought you couldn't lose on, and some questionable charities to try and look hard and funny, but when it comes down to it, you were more or less backed into a corner and scared to follow through. You then pulled the biggest cuck of the century, and rather than jump into the ring with me, paid out to the season ticket fund to get out of it, whilst at the same time try to make yourself look like a big man and get validation from the forum. Neither move surprises me.

I challenge you to a £1000 charity boxing match. Loser pays out to the other person's chosen charity (no restrictions). Also, if you lose, I want a free promotion of my next book in your publication in the form of interview and advertising, and the right to reveal your name to the general public. Being such a big man, you surely can't turn that down. Even if you lose, I respect anybody that is willing to step into the ring. I mean that wholeheartedly, and with the chance to quadruple the money for good causes, surely it makes sense?

Your move.

Not that my reasoning is neccersary or means anything, as you're projecting once again to deflect from your own weak behaviour, but I have spent half the day at a funeral of one of my oldest family members, and the other half comforting the rest of that group and talking. I'm stone cold sober as I have to drive very early in the morning and frankly getting pissed isn't something that felt particularly appropriate today.

Regardless, your response is again of someone that clearly wishes they never had opened their mouth but wants to save face. I don't have any respect for you and as far as I'm concerned this is the end of the conversation. You bottled pretty much every stage of this and have embarrassed yourself over and over again. I even gave you the chance to put a grand towards a charity of your choice and you flapped it. It was easier to bottle it but try to look like a hero by giving money to the season ticket fund. If you had the capability, you could and should have done that at any time. You didn't. You waited until you were out of other options on a SBT charity bet and wanted to get validation. It says everything about you.

I'll never look at you with any respect, and in all likelihood this is the last time I will ever respond to you on this forum. You're absolutely pathetic.
